12: The Rejection

Kevin was the most excited he had been in a while. Why, you might ask?

He was going to ask Jacob out on a date.

He had been spending the last few days with Jacob at the grocery store and he found the older boy very interesting- and in all honesty, he might have caught a few feelings for him.

So thats why he was getting ready to head to the florist right after his shift at the bank. He was originally just going to go hang out with Jacob, but then he had the brilliant idea to hang out with him and ask him on a date.

He honestly thought that the other boy could possible have a crush on him as well. Obviously, he wasn't very confident about it, but the small smiles and faint blushes were enough to tell him that there was a chance that the older boy also had caught some feelings.

When he got to the florist, he took a few deep breaths before pushing the doors open and plastering a nervous smile on his face.

When Jacob saw him, he had started smiling too. Both of their eyes' lit up, they were that excited.

They talked for a few minutes- just talking about their day and how Jacob had an extra annoying customer that day- before Kevin decided to ask him the big question.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course."

"Will you go on a date with me?"

"What?"

"Do you wanna go on a date with me?"

"I- I heard. Are you being serious? This isn't a joke right?"

"No, I wouldn't joke with you like that."

"I can't. I'm really sorry, Kev. I just can't."

"Oh, okay."

There was an awkward silence between the two boys before Kevin decided that it would be best for him to just leave. He quickly mumbled out a quick "see you" before walking out of the store. He had never felt more upset and embarrassed in his life.

He was starting to really like Jacob, but he obviously didn't feel the same way.

Jacob on the other hand, felt terrible. He really did like Kevin, but he was terrified.

What if Kevin was just like his ex? He didn't seem like he was, but then again his ex was also happy and loving in the start of the relationship.

Jacob had just gotten over the relationship. He had just gotten over not being hit every time he said the wrong thing. After three years, he had just gotten used to not being abused by the person who was supposed to love him.

He wanted to go after Kevin, to explain to him what had happened in the past, to tell him that he liked him and really wanted to go on a date with him, but he couldn't. It was as if he was stuck in his place. Like his legs had completely stopped working.

Both of the two boys were devastated. And while Kevin was able to call Chanhee, Juyeon, Eric, Changmin, Sunwoo, and Haknyeon about his troubles, Jacob couldn't talk to anyone because they all had problems that were way worse then his stupid love life.
