12 - hatsushi sunrise

Tendou and y/n spent more time with each other than they did imagine. And all of those memories were so dear to them.

Y/n let out a heavy breath emitting smoke because of the cold. She felt the cold breeze meeting the warmth of the blood in her skin making her shiver as she watched people walk with their loved ones that night.

Then suddenly her almost stiff neck felt the delicate touch of silk-like fabric. She turned around only to be greeted by Tendou's sweet smile.

Tendou was wrapping the extra scarf he brought around y/n's neck. "Why didn't you bring something to warm yourself? Lucky you, I guessed you actually wouldn't bring one,"

Y/n felt involuntary heat rose in her cheeks. It was as if on that cold night Tendou became y/n's flame to keep her warm. "No one said it would be this cold tonight," she murmured, burying her face to the scarf to hide her blush. "Thank you,"

"Let's go,"

They could hear people sharing laughs, vendors advertising their items and footsteps from everyone scattered around the glamorous Jishu shrine.

They did spend a lot of time together that that night was the last night of the year. Of course they wouldn't want to miss going to a shrine before the year ended.

Although it was loud, Tendou and y/n felt at peace. Those were the sounds they would gladly hear as long as they're together. The scattered lights glowing that night were so endearing as well.

The two arrived at the torii shrine gate and stairs that would lead them inside. They climb through the stairs with smiles displayed on their faces.

The first thing they saw was a statue of a god. They proceeded to the main hall and prayed for a bit. After cleansing themselves the crimson-colored building stood in front of them.

"Give me five yen coins," Said y/n wiggling her brows.

"Don't rob me in front of the gods," Tendou joked but ended up giving her the coins. Y/n rolled her eyes then chuckled.

Y/n placed the coins inside the box. They then bowed twice and clapped their hands twice as well. With their eyes closed, they sent their prayers. After they ended praying, they did an ending bow.

It was already crowded when they went to the love fortune rock that was said to be answering relationships prayer. "Wanna pray there?" Tendou asked pointing the stone.

"Not like I have a love life," Y/n chuckled. Tendou laughed along with her, then gently held her hand.

Y/n felt the warmth with Tendou's touch, she beamed a smile. "I might lose you, and you don't want that." He murmured dragging y/n out of the crowd. He was right though. They might run into someone and lost themselves.

After running through the crowd they heard the happiness gong ringing nonstop. There were people lined up to ring the gong that could make themselves and others happy with prayers to add.

Along with the ringing gong was the sound of fireworks above. The new year had started.

Tendou and y/n watched the colorful fireworks shone in front of their eyes, with their hands holding still.

-

After eating, having conversations and wandering around the shrine, they finally decided to go home and rest. But before that they wanted to pray for the last time.

"What do you call this small shrine?" y/n questioned.

"They called it Okage Myojin. It's extra special for me since it would only grant a single wish." Tendou answered. "Did you already write something in your senjafuda?"

Senjafudas are stickers or papers that would fulfill its owner's specific wish. They are charms that would bring good fortunes and plastered all over the shrine's gate.

"Yeah, you?"

"I already did. We should pray what we wrote in our senjafudas then stick it outside after," Tendou mouthed and y/n responded with a nod.

She closed her eyes and sincerely prayed. Y/n, what was your wish?

-

"What did you wish for?" y/n asked.

"Your happiness."

"Psh. Don't kid yourself,"

"Heh~" Tendou teased with her palms at the back of his head, staring faraway above. "Oh- hatsushi..."

"What?"

"Look, It's the first sun of the year."

When y/n turned his gaze to Tendou, he was dazzling as if the reflection of those shades above loved him dearly.

Ah... time flew really fast. Who would have thought they would see the first sun together?
