the thin lines of blown-out candle smoke wandered through the girl's unlighted bedroom as she was tucked under her covers trying to fall asleep. the night had just started but catastrophe was bound to happen when clatters of quick footsteps entered y/n's room.

"Y/N, WAKE UP! you jolted up straight away when your mother's booming voice had awoken your sleep. "mother, what's wrong, is everything okay?!, you asked immediately. "I'm sorry dear about startling you, but there has been a fire at the Gillis's house and we need all the help we can get".

the news you had received frightened you, never in a million years would you had expect a fire but the home of one of your classmates. without another word, you quickly got dressed and ran out of your room and started to find buckets.

"y/n, what's happening, why is everyone in a rush?", Lucia wondered in confusion. "Lucia, there has been a fire but I need you to head back to bed, it's not safe for you to be there, okay". Lucia nodded not quarrelling with you as it seems she was too tired to care.

your parents and you were all seated in the carriage, multiple buckets of water on board, scurrying rapidly to the Gillis house hoping to make it in time. not far from where you were going, you could already sense the faint scents of smoke flowing through the air, it wasn't very pleasant.

when you arrived, everything and everyone looked like a mess, shouts of loud commands roamed through the air, emotions of worries were all plastered along people's faces, and the fire didn't look like it was slowing down.

"Y/N, YOU'RE HERE!" two familiar voices ran up to you excitedly. you gave a little wave and began conversation with Anne and Diana but the image painted in front of you distracted you away from the discussion between the two girls.

you adverted your attention back to the house and noticed something strange. "Why are the doors and windows-", "open" Anne blurted out finishing your sentence. Both Anne and y/n immediately started to run off into the house leaving Diana confused. "ANNE, Y/N, WHERE ARE YOU GOING!", Diana quickly shouted out. Anne and y/n ignored the piercing shouts from their frightened friend and continued their way to the burning house.

the two girls hurriedly ran up the stairs, quickly taking in the atmosphere. The smoke had completely come into view; resulting in everything becoming hazy and unclear. Taking in little breathes of air as the rich scents roamed through the girl's body, the smoke was directing them to pass out. Y/n inhaled, as smoke began to fill up her lungs quickly; coughing and exhaling the vile odour that entered into her.
