"God damn it!!!"

Nadia stood in front of the doorway, shocked. She saw her family in the meeting room, gathered around the table which was a pool table, bottles in the little goal holes. The outburst came from her own grandfather Poseidon. He had stricken his fist on the table to make a point.

"Everything okay, Grandad?" she asked, clenching the plate in her hands a bit harder.

"Aye, lass, just discussing some business," he smiled warmly, his one eye traveling over to the plate in her hands, "I see you brought us some treats."

"Of course," she sauntered over to the table and set the plate down. "I made fortune cookies."

The fishbone gang awed at the treats. "Thanks, doll," Lars said, winking at her as he grabbed a cookie.

"Soooo..." She started of casually, her tail swaying back and forth gently, "whatcha talkin' about?"

"A heist," Neel said, reading the fortune with a cocked eyebrow. 'You will give Nadia 20 bucks' it read.

20 bucks? The hell?

"What heist?" Nadia purred softly.

"Heard of the Life Gem? That could be big money," Sebastian grinned.

"The Life Gem!? Ooh, let me come! Please! Please! Pleeeeeeaaaassee!!!"

"Too dangerous," Lars said, not even looking at her. His eyes were focused on a newspaper.

"What? Nu-uh. I can do it. Nothing can scare this cat," she said doing some kicks and making karate noises.

"I think Lars might be right on this one, Nadia," Neel said, looking at the pouting girl.

"Aw, come on. Nadia's tough. She can do it," Sebastian said, smiling at her.

"Alright, show me that you're a good gangster and you'll be able to go on a mission on your own," Lars smirked.

A huge grin formed on her face as her tail raised up. It was wrapped around a brown wallet. All the gangsters had a poker face until Neel started to rapidly pat his apron pocket. "Hey! Give me back my wallet, girl!"

The gangsters laughed.

"Alright, it seems you've got the skills to pay the bills," Lars said, making Nadia hop up and down.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I promise I will not fail you," she said running for the door.

"Wait, lass, you'll need to know a little before you go out to steal your first gem," Poseidon said.

With a huff, Nadia came back into the room.

Lars ripped out a piece from his newspaper. "Here. This is the Ofelia emerald. We were planning on nabbing it in a month or so but since you've proven yourself worthy.....," he trailed off on purpose just to see the impatient cat's expression, "I'll give you the honors of stealing it."

She snatched the paper out of his hands. "Thank you so much you guys! I'll be back before midnight," she said, stuffing the paper into her shirt, getting on all fours, and rushing off.
