It had been an hour since Nadia's departure and Lars was getting worried. He was about to go look for her when she came into the room holding a brown gem.
"I'm back!"
"Why did that take so long? What were you doing?" He asked.
"You know, stole a gem, got some coffee. The usuge." She grinned, tossing it to him.
"See? What did I tell ya? She's a natural," Sebastian chuckled.
"Aye, lass, you've knocked our socks off," Poseidon smiled, "It's obvious that you're ready to become an official member of the Fishbone Gang!"
The Fishbone looked to Lars who still didn't look convinced.
"...Fine," he groaned, their cheers blocked out any sound that tried to get through.
//2 Years Later
Nadia had become very skilled with heists. Poseidon was in his 60's now and was no longer able to help the gang. Nadia was a great replacement. They were at the top until that one eventful day...
"You can't."
Nadia scowled. You can't, you can't, you can't. She wasn't a child anymore! She was 19 years old. This was getting irritating.
"You let me help you any other time. What's different about now?" She asked.
"This mission goes back to an argument with the Medici," Poseidon sighed, coughing, "It was about a special artifact called 'The Life Gem'. I'm sure that you've heard of it, Lass?"
"Of course," she replied, "the gem is said to have certain abilities or whatever. What about it?"
"We made a deal with them a long time ago," Lars said softly.
"We told 'em that we were going to get The Life Gem for 'em but we never went to that meeting," Neel sighed, "Never got 'em that gem..."
"Well why not? They could kill you guys!" Nadia gasped, scared of the thought.
"We were on our way but then we found you," Sebastian said while he twiddled his fingers nervously.
Nadia stayed quiet but nodded slightly.
"What are you planning to do?""Wish for the best I suppose," Neel said while shaking his bottle slowly.
"Maybe it's not too late," Sebastian said, "We could still nab it for 'em and pretend that nothing ever happened!"
"Yeah. Pretend like it totally hasn't been 19 years," Lars said sarcastically.
"No, we can do it. We can! We just...need to plan more..." Nadia sighed.
"The lass be right. Tomorrow night we go 'nd steal that gem," Poseidon stated, making the Fishbone nod, filled with determination.
//The Next Night
"Nadia."
The nineteen year-old neko looked down from her current position; perched on a garbage bin. The soft moonlight shone on her tan skin as she looked back to her comrade. "What is it, Lars."
"Be safe. We're going to come around the other side at the exits. You're the only one who can go through the ceiling vents. Good luck," he said to her before joining Sebastian and Neel.
Nadia nodded and gripped onto the sides of the vent cover. She began pulling at it with a grunt as the harsh, cold metal dug into her hands, almost drawing blood. She gave it one last rough yank and the cover came off with a clang.
"Purr-fect," she remarked as she crawled inside the freezing cold vent.
