This is my first fanfiction so please comment and let me know what you think! I appreciate any and all feedback, just try to be nice about it.

After re-reading and re-watching the Harry Potter books and movies, I started to think a lot about Draco Malfoy (I mean, who wouldn't?). Beyond being really hot in a mysterious and broody way, I truly think he is the most complex character in the entire series. While his loyalties lie with the Dark Lord and the Malfoy family, you can see that he is extremely conflicted about his role in the war. Especially in the Half-Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows, you can see that Draco is questioning himself and feels immense guilt about hurting innocent people. Furthermore, you can see that he is not comfortable when he sees muggle-borns being killed or tortured, showing that he really isn't the evil person that he is expected to be. The thing that stands out to me is that throughout his conflict, he is ultimately alone and does not confide in anyone.

I think that Draco would have acted differently if he had someone by his side who understood the way he felt. So I created a character that did. Violet Chan is a character that I created as a counter-part to Draco. She comes from a wealthy, pureblood family and her parents are Death Eaters who also have a high ranking with the Dark Lord. This story explores her and Draco's relationship and their struggle to follow in their parent's footsteps.

Don't worry, Draco is still pretty toxic. However, it doesn't really start to show until we get to the Half-Blood Prince. Before then, he actually a pretty good boyfriend and then starts to regress as he becomes more stressed. He is possessive and dominant throughout the entire story though, so he is still the character that we know and love from other fanfics.

The story is primarily told from Violet's perspective, with a few chapters told by Draco. Violet is very much her own character because I am personally not a huge fan of Draco x Reader stories. She is a Slytherin and she's sorta feisty so I hope you like her!

I also decided to make Pansy cool in this story. The version that I have of Pansy in my head is actually kind but just misunderstood. She is a pretty big part of the story so I hope you enjoy my take on her. Blaise is also a big part of this story and is Draco's best friend. I wanted to show how I think things may have played out if Draco had close friends who were there for him.

This story also contains a lot of SPICE, so I'm sure many of you will be happy about that. It is not a slow burn as Violet and Draco have a bit of an established relationship from the beginning. Although there a ton of spicy scenes, the plot of the story is pretty heavy and dark so viewer discretion is advised. I will be leaving trigger warnings at the beginning of the chapters where they apply.
