Those three words...
"Do I love Kageyama?" Hinata whispered.
He sat criss-cross in his bed and thought about the words his mom said to him.
The sky was a deep purple and blue, letting the stars steal the night. The warm air that was torturous died down to a cool wind that relaxed his mind. Hinata's window was open all the way, letting the breeze take over his room.
Kageyama isn't easy to understand. He's closed off from the world and keeps to himself. Hinata's only way of describing Kageyama is that he's like a rose. A rose is a beautiful flower and it lures people in, but if someone doesn't take off the thorns and they try to grab it, they'll get hurt. Kageyama still had thorns in his mind, and the only reason they stay there is because he's so stubborn. It was an insult to Kageyama, but it was the only way Hinata could describe him.
Kageyama...what's wrong with me? I'm losing my mind over someone.
Hinata's body was sweating, but he felt himself get colder like he was getting more distant from the world. His mind, although full of thoughts, was empty. It drifted away into the night as fell onto his pillow and let the dreams take over.
"Kageyama!" Hinata shouted over the sounds of traffic racing by them.
Kageyama was standing infront if Hinata, but he didn't know where they were. The sky was a light grey and everything around them was lifeless, there was no colour in the world. As Hinata looked around he felt himslef get further away from Kageyama. He blinked rapidly until Kageyama disappeared into nothing.
He called out, "Kageyama?" but there was no reply. There wasn't even a single gust of wind.
Hinata turned around and Kageyama was right behind him, just staring at him. With lifeless eyes, yet at the same time, there was a glow that was powerful to Hinata.
Kageyama spoke softly, "Do you love me?" Hinata looked at the ground, not realizing the question that was suddenly asked. He grabbed onto his shirt into his fists and flushed lightly.
What am I supposed to say? This doesn't feel right. He knew this was a dream. A dream that was taunting him, mocking him in the cruelest way possible. It hurt him—his mind hurt.
"What if I did? Is that good enough for you to love me back?" Hinata spoke, looking up at the tall boy.
Their eyes locked together, no one blinked, no one moved a muscle. Hinata was to scared to breathe. The suspense weighed on his chest as he stood their awkwardly.
"I don't love you." Kageyama said in a monotone voice. That same voice Hinata wanted to hear say I love you.
Hinata's eyes went wide with fear and his heart shattered. His mind went fuzzy and he couldn't do anything about it. No words came from his mouth, he could only zone out. His eyes blurred as fresh tears welled up. He stepped backwards, stumbling as he started to run away from the boy.
Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Why? Why Kageyama? This may be a dream but you really are an idiot!
He ran and ran, even when his lungs needed more oxygen to flow. His feet needed to rest, but he ignored the pain traveling throughout his body. The burning sensation traveled to his feet making him stumble and fall forward. He expected to hit the ground, and bleed. That never happened.
I fell. Why do I feel so much wind?
His eyes opened. He was falling, but not on a sidewalk anymore. Hinata was falling from the grey sky that still carried the same lifeless energy as before. The ground below was a body of water, although it didn't look like water.
