CHARLOTTE GAVE HANNAH a weird look. She didn't comprehend the words that came out of Hannah's mouth. Me and William are going to a ball tonight. Do you mind if I use one of your poshest dresses? Charlottes expression was priceless, especially the fact that she didn't dare speak for a long minute. She was in a state of shock and couldn't seem to get out of it. She had forgotten that her best friend and her brother were no longer the sworn enemies that they were two weeks ago. Not only that, but they were now attending a ball together? She had much questions for the both of them, ones that they were obligated to answer.

"What?" Charlotte asked, clearly confused. Why didn't Hannah at least have the decency to keep it a secret from her? For heaven's sake, she'd rather have them lie to her than know the scary truth.

"By the simple look on your face, I can sense the theories that are being formed inside of that golden brain of yours," Hannah sang, almost amused, but she was not. She couldn't stand that her best friend read too much into such a small thing. It was a simple ball. It was for Bess and her sister. Charlotte knows that nothing ever happens in balls. They are simply hosted by the richest and most powerful people of society. She definitely shouldn't have to worry about the fact that she knows nothing about dancing and being polite.

When Charlotte said, "I don't know what you're talking about," She was not longer worrying about what was going inside of her head. She was too worried trying to figure her friend.

"Please stop doing whatever it is that you are doing because you should know that there is no part of me that wants to be with your brother. This is simply about Bess and helping her find Sarah." Hannah said.

Charlotte looked at her questionably, like she didn't believe her, not completely.

"I'm telling you the truth." Hannah continued, clearly annoyed by the constant questioning of Charlotte Hart. She guided her fingers to touch and admire the books that sat on the shelf, often discarded. Books have a sort of intensity that she couldn't quite comprehend. She thinks it might be because they always held a special place in her heart. They have always helped her escape the terrifying world she lived in. "Enola sent a letter through Bess." She reached for her pocket.

Charlotte quickly flew into a fighting stance with a teasing smile on her lips. "You are quite an entertaining thing to watch, my dear Charlotte." Hannah laughed. She quickly dodged the slap Charlotte was ready to give her.
