As the trees shift
Softly in the wind,
My breath escapes my chest
Hoping to catch up with yoursThere is this constant chill
Lingering in the air
As if you took all
The warmth in your wake.I always thought
That we would have
Many more memories
That I forgot to enjoy
The ones we already had.The last words we
Ever exchanged
Never left like that
Always felt like
More to come.I am sorry
I did not appreciate
All you were offering
When you were aroundAnd that I didn't
hug you tighter
Or hold you that
Little bit longer -I just never thought
You would leave.© E.C.X. ©
