Chapter One

(Y/n)'s POV

It's been a couple of months since the whole thing with Chen. A lot of thing have happened since then. I decided to go back to New York City. I left Ninjago behind...

As soon as I went back home, I regretted it. I missed the Ninja's too much. Lloyd was right. There was nothing for me there. So I found a way back to Ninjago, and I live in an apartment in Ninjago city now. I even have a job, but I'm still trying to get used to it. My years of stealing are over. I have to get used to that too.

It's such a bad habit of mine...

Flashback...

"It's so nice to finally get out of the bounty and get some fresh air." Cole says stretching as he gets off the bounty, and the other ninja follow.

"Yeah, don't worry, (Y/n). We'll give you the grand tour of the city." Jay says excitedly.

I smile at their energy, and we start to walk around. "This is the Statue of Zane. It's a long story." Jay says and then quickly goes to show me something else.

"Oh, (Y/n). You should come clothing shopping with me sometime." Nya says.

"That sounds like fun." A sweat drop rolls down the side of my face. This is a bit overwhelming.

"This is Chen's noodle shop. Since Chen's gone, Skyler has taken over." Kai says pointing to the restaurant.

"I'm starving. Maybe we should get something to eat there." Cole suggest as he rubs his tummy.

"I'm not hungry-" I say but I'm interrupted by my stomach growling. I blush in embarrassment.

"Thought you said you weren't hungry." Cole raises his brow as he smirks at my reaction.

"Oh, sh-shut up!" I shout as my face reddens more.

"I don't think she wants to go because her and Skyler still aren't on speaking terms." Zane states the obvious.

"It's the same with Lloyd..." Nya whispers to herself, but I could still hear her because she's standing right next to me.

Lloyd isn't here with us because he refuses to talk or even see me. It's been like this since that day...

I toss the apple in my hand and catch it. I was about to take a bite out of it when Jay spoke.

"Where did you get that?"

I pause for a second. My mouth still slightly open.

"I got it off of that guy over there." I point to this guy, who seems to be in a rush. He was carry a bag of groceries. I got hungry and grabbed it without the guy noticing.

"(Y-y/n)! You can't just steal things." Nya yells at me as she grabs the apple out of my hand.

I didn't even realize that I stole it in the first place.

"You should catch up to him and give it back. Then apologize for stealing it." Zane says.

"Does that mean I have to give back the other stuff too?" I ask cautiously.

"What else did you steal?" Kai asks hesitantly.

I start taking things out of my pockets and setting it on the ground. When my pockets were empty, there was a huge pile of random junk.

If I remember correctly, I got most of these things from the stores we walked by, and the rest from people walking by.

"When did you have time to do all this?!" Jay shouts.

"How could you fit that many in your pockets??!"

Let's just say, they made me give all the things back. Not being a criminal is harder than I thought...

End of Flashback

I'm a bit surprised no bad guys have tried anything yet. It's been a little too quiet in Ninjago City. I take out my keys and unlock my apartment door. I take my shoes off at the door and set my bags down. Then I plop myself on my bed.

I was able to save up some money and rent an apartment. I've never really had a place to come home to. I've always lived on the streets.

Yes, I robbed banks and stuff so I had a lot of money, but I never got myself a place to live. I was also always on the move so I never stayed in one place because that's what I was taught to do.

Granted I could've changed my identity but that would've been such a hassle. And I'd rather not be someone I'm not.

I'm honestly tired of running. I would steal to survive but I also did it for the action. The excitement. I guess I have a different kind of excitement now.

I haven't heard much from Lloyd. Last time we talked I said some hurtful things.

Flashback...

"Did you actually think I might return your feelings? How stupid could you be? I would never fall for the 'Green Ninja'. I'm actually happy to go home so I don't have to be around you anymore."

"Where did this come from? Y-you don't mean any of it." I was slowly breaking his heart.

"I meant every word I said. Did you think I actually wanted to be friends with you. I was just using you so I could get back home."

"I guess I was wrong about you. Goodbye." He said as he left the room. His voice was lanced with venom but his eyes showed hurt.

I think about what Lloyd said as I pour the Traveler's Tea.

They're right. I could have a fresh start here. I can't do my bad guy act anymore. So going back to how things were before isn't an option. Prison can't be that bad, can it? Here, I won't have to be on the run anymore. I could stay here and start over. Maybe even find out what happened to my parents.

But I can't stay.. I don't deserve to be happy.

The portal starts to slowly close. I have to make my decision now.

I panic and jump into the portal and it closes up behind me. Next thing I knew I was in the streets of New York City. My home.

Goodbye... Ninjago.

Just as I was about to go turn myself in, I was surrounded by police cars.

"Put your hands in the air where we can see them." A familiar police officer spoke. Looks like they came to me instead.

I smirk, putting my hands up to show I had nothing in them and turning around.

"Hey, Tommy. It's been awhile." I say.

"It's Timmy. And yes, it has." He says pointing a gun at me. I wasn't afraid in the least.

"I guess today is the day you finally catch me. I surrender." I say holding my hands out ready to be cuffed.

This is the right thing to do, right?

I said those mean things to Lloyd because I thought that it would be easier for him to forget me if he hated me. Still, I wish he would at least let me explain myself...

Lately, I've been trying to find out more about the 'Twins' Chen told me about. I've tried searching them up on the internet, but I only got the definition of twins or picture of people who are twins. No surprise there.

Nya's supposed to take me shopping soon. My wardrobe is still very small. I don't have many outfits.

My phone, that I got recently, started ringing. I sit up on my bed before answering it.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Kai. We've got a situation." Kai tells me the place to meet up with everyone.

"Alright. Be there soon." I say and hang up.

I wonder what's happened.
