The monster glared at the boy's back with his one, massive eye. Aiden felt like someone was watching him but he shook it off, thinking it was his thoughts. The cyclop grabbed his club and got ready to smash his opponent. His master had said that he would make the cyclop the chief of one of master's army sections. All he needed to do was to kill the boy.
"What an easy task." The cyclop thought.
Aiden had finished his meal and got up to wash his hands in the creek. He was walking there when the cyclop jumped at him. Aiden instincts kicked in and he rolled to the side, straight into the creek.
The water knocked the air out of Aiden.
"Finally I can see my family. I just have to let go." Aiden thought. The cyclop waited with his club in his hand. Aiden waited and waited and waited but he didn't die.
"huh? I've been underwater for so long now. I should be dead." Aiden thought. The cyclop also thought that the boy was dead. The cyclop got up and walked out of the camp.
Aiden waited even longer to die but he just couldn't die. He opened his eyes and realized that he could breathe underwater and he could see everything. Aiden looked at everything in wonder. He looked at the fish in wonder. He started to smile. Aiden raised his hands in wonder, thinking he had powers or something.
"Hello young master. Can we help you?" The fish asked him telepathically.
"Are you talking to me?" Aiden asked. He looked around.
"Yes master. Is there anyone else here?" The fish asked him.
"No but fish can't talk."
"So you thought that we fish were mute."
"Sorry but I didn't know that fish can talk."
"hmph" The fish responded angrily.
"Can you tell me why I can see underwater and why I can talk to you and why I am not dead and why I can breathe and-" Aiden started
"Slow down master!" The fish responded angrily. "One question at a time."
"Fine why am I not dead from drowning?" Aiden said.
"Master obviously you won't die from drowning. Are you okay?"
"Why am I not dead?" Aiden asked again.
"Master you are the heir of the ocean. Of course you won't die from water if you can control it."
"What?"
And so the fish went into a much longer explanation then necessary of the greek gods and demigods. Aiden interrupted many times throughout the explanations with some good questions and questions that the fish wanted to smack Aiden.
"So I'm the son of a god that controls water. The greek gods are alive and I'm called a demigod." Aiden said slowly.
"Yes." The fish said tiredly
"I don't want to be a child of a water god. That's sooo lame."
"LAME?" The fish yelled into Aiden's head.
"Ow calm down." Aiden clutched his head in pain.
"You dare call the position of being the child of Lord Poseidon lame?"
"Sorry but controlling water is that amazing. Wow I can throw water balls so awesome."
"You can control huge bodies of water, and have a little bit of control over ice! You can do so many things with that!"
"Like what?"
"Like creating a water sword or icicles or something to kill monsters."
"Monsters?"
"DID YOU ALREADY FORGET WHAT I TAUGHT YOU?"
"N-no but like I don't want to kill them."
"Your too kind-hearted. Monsters are the things that killed your parents and families." the fish said disgusted. "You have to kill them or they'll kill you. This world is a dog vs dog world. If you want to survive, you're going to have to fight and maybe even have to kill."
Aiden was silent. He didn't have anything to reply to that. He had killed a monster before, he could do it again.
"Go up there and face the world. Staying depressed about a loss, doesn't makes sense. Make anyone who dares to go against you, fall and show the world who's boss. If you want to avenge your family, you need to go up to world and get stronger... alone." The fish said edging him on.
In reality the fish just wanted to leave but he sympathized with the child.
The fish had no idea how big of a mistake he had made.
I know a lot shorter of a chapter then usual but like I wanted to end it with like a little cliffhanger. I also wanted to continue working on my next book and plan it out. I've had sooooooo many assignments and tests. Anyway I promise the next chapter is going to be much longer. If you're wondering on when Aiden and Percy Jackson are going to meet, It's going to be a while. I want to finish Aiden's backstory and in detail because everything is going to explain a lot later on in the book. This book is going to be really long so yeah.
