The Forest

6 Months Later

3rd Person

Aiden jumped from tree to tree through the forest. His bow and arrows slung over his shoulder and his long celestial bronze knife on his leg. He had grown to live in the wild. The first few weeks were rough but after the incident, everything had changed. From his cheerful, cheeky attitude he had become hard and serious. He trained day and night on his knife tactics, learning from the books he had stolen from the local library. Now to Aiden, robbery was simply a way to survive.
Over the last 6 months his arsenal of weapons had upgraded from a celestial bronze knife that his mother gave him all the way to 2 knives on his legs, 2 knives on his arms, a bow, and 3 quivers of arrows. He had a sword back at camp but it was way too heavy for him.
He had just killed a few monsters and robbed a bow. He replaced his old, dirty bow with a new, clean, shiny one and threw his old one. He jumped towards the next tree and then he saw it.

A monster camp.

Around 15 monsters were cuddled around a fire. Aiden grabbed his bow and got ready on the branch.
"Beautiful. Maybe they have some food or more arrows." Aiden thought while grabbing 3 arrows. He looked around the camp, examining every little detail for some more monsters. The monsters didn't suspect a thing. Aiden put on the 3 arrows onto the string and pulled it back. He aimed and then the monster turned around. The monster's eyes laid on Aiden when suddenly the monster saw an arrow coming straight to his eye.

3 monsters fell, each with an arrow in their head. Aiden smirked and grabbed another arrow and fired in one clean motion. Another monster fell and then he saw what was by the fire.

A young girl.

It reminded him of the incident.

Flashback:

August 18 (5 months ago)

Aiden had gone outside of his camp to go fill up his water bottle. He had been switching up campsites many times after monsters found him.
Aiden threw his water bottle up in the air and caught it when he heard a rustle.

"Who's there?" Aiden grabbed his knife that was on his leg and pulled it out. Another rustle behind him. Aiden turned around but he was too slow.
"Wha-" Aiden's mouth was muffled by a monster jumping onto him. A massive hellhound was onto him, glaring down on him with its blood red eyes. The monster was going to eat him when he stopped, inches away from Aiden's scared face. The hellhound got up and moved back.
"Good doggie." Aiden got up and slowly moved towards the monster to pet it.

"Ahhhhhh!!!" Aiden screamed. The monster had latched itself onto Aiden's foot and chomped on it. Aiden grabbed his knife and was about to plunge it into the monsters head when suddenly the hellhound started to drag him.

"Let go!" Aiden screamed trying to hit the monster with anything, his knife meters away from him.
That night had been Aiden's worst nights ever. He was dragged to a monsters camp and was almost eaten alive. He had screamed and the entire camp was flooded.

Flashback End

A roar shook himself out of the memories. The cyclops threw its massive axe at Aiden. Aiden jumped out of the tree.

"That all you got you fat idiot. Did momma drop you after seeing your face?" Aiden taunted

The monster roared in anger and stomped to Aiden. The cyclops ripped a tree out of its roots.
