broken record - golden

It gets better with time

But you'll no longer be mine
Pretendin' I'm fine
When I'm cryin' inside
Still missin' your smile
And it's hurting my pride
But Love is always stronger
And it makes me wonder
If I'm still in love with you and
I can't help it no no no
Sounds like a broken record

Singin' all this blues but don't you know

Avery had gone home by herself after having John B drag JJ off as soon as they docked the boat, quickly apologizing to the brunette before beginning to yell at the boy.

The blond was unable to escape his grip, but he shouted a promise to the brunette that he would see her later once he got access to his phone. She only shook her head with a laugh before waving her goodbyes to the two boys, starting her trek back home.

After fifteen minutes of walking - which Avery didn't mind since she was admiring the scenery with a soft smile -, she heard her name being called and the sound of wheels screeching against the pavement made her turn her head in curiosity.

Sarah's bright smile met her eyes and she instantly grinned back, stopping to focus on her. The dirty blonde had one foot on the ground, the other on the peddle of the bike she was riding.

"Hey, Sarah," she greeted. "What are you doing here?"

"I just visited town for a bit," she answered, tilting her head curiously at the brunette. "What were you doing on this side of the island?"

"Oh, um..." She wasn't sure if she should tell the girl, not entirely sure of her own stance on the class war since she always avoided the topic whenever it came up. "I just went down to the marsh. I figured I might find some interesting fish while I was there."

Sarah seemed to believe her lie, chuckling fondly with a shake of her head. "You're so weird," she chortled. "Why didn't you invite me? We could've gone together. Oh! And we could've gone down to the beach and see if any turtles laid new eggs."

"We could do that tomorrow," Avery beamed, gaze lighting up at the prospect of finding sea turtle eggs. "Oh, how about we do that now? I just need to change out of my clothes."

"Sure!" the girl agreed, just as excited. "I don't have a swimsuit on right now so I need to get one before we go. Wanna hop on? Your house is so far away."

"Okay," the green eyed girl quickly agreed, setting her hands on the girl's shoulders as she moved to get up behind her.

Sarah balanced the bike as Avery positioned her feet on the rear derailleurs, finding it easier to do since the soles of her shoes were cushioning the pointiness of the mechanism. Her hands were holding onto Sarah's shoulders firmly, and the brown eyed girl glanced at her with a grin.

"Ready?"

Avery laughed, nodding as Sarah started to peddle. She started off slowly at first, trying to get used to the extra weight before she started going faster, the brunette's hair billowing behind her as the wind picked up and blew it in different directions.
