Time has dragged on laying in this dark room so much. From the moment I woke up this morning, my body has protested my every move. My body acts like it's been laying in bed for a week, but Grandma tells me it's only been a few days. How did everything go sideways this quick?
After dark, I make it to where I know Grandma is sitting on the porch swing.
At the sound of the door, she looks up and smiles. "Love, I'm glad you made it downstairs. Come sit for a little while. Let's talk about what's on your mind."
I halt. "How did you know something was bothering me?"
"The confusion and doubt comes off you in waves."
Once I get to the swing, she stops so I can sit down next to her. The calm breeze quietens some of my anxiety, and an earthy scent fills my nose and promises rain soon.
I fidget with the bracelets decorating my wrists. "Why am I having such a hard time with this color or rather aura stuff?"
She laughs. "You're overthinking things. Stop trying so hard. Sometimes interpreting colors is easier than you're making it. Think of colors people associate with emotions."
My brow creases, and she shakes her head.
"For example, red represents anger and strength, green or healing for envy, blue for calmness or sadness. I think you get the idea. One source of colors that you might not know are the ones usually associated with magic, intuitives and spiritual enlightenment. These colors are yellow and various shades of purple."
I nod. "Believe it or not, plenty of that makes sense. I've seen yellow around Ande and Tanner, red and blue around Mick, purples around Carleigh and various other people. The colors representing positive and negative emotions also make sense now because I've seen the same colors around you and Hunter." I snort trying to hold my laughter in. "Without a doubt, you and Hunter having the same color didn't make sense."
"Hunter is a complex person who is hurting deeply. When you get more in tune with your intuitive side, you might be able to pick up moods from other people beyond body language."
I open my mouth, but she interrupts my thought. "Yes, I know there are a few people who you can already feel emotions from even at a longer distance. You need to remember that in the future. It just might help you travel down paths that are more suited for you rather than rambling through the overgrowth before you get to certain destinations."
I huff. "If you say so."
"Love, I have a feeling I know so. Off to bed with you, you need to start building up your endurance more. But don't push yourself this time. You have nothing to prove to anybody—including your inner doubts. Pick a path that feels right on the inside and travel that path with gusto. You will come up to forks and deadends, but that is all part of the journey. You need to heal what's inside. Love yourself, Tallulah. You have so many good qualities to love. Those people growing up wanted to knock you down for whatever the reason. Please, don't let them be successful in overturning the boat you were meant to sail."
"Thanks, Grandma." I stand up, give her a big hug and head up to my room.
Dreams have been plaguing me lately; several in one night sometimes. Maybe meditation will help me get a more peaceful night's sleep.
I'm walking through a forest. I come up to a small clearing, my white falcon has been flying above me. He comes and lands on a tree stump.
Up in a nearby tree hornets swarm around their nest.
The light is fading and crickets chirp in the background.
Waking, I raise my hands to the heavens like I'm going to get an answer as to why I'm having more frequent dreams I can't understand. Will they ever leave me alone? Are they coming because of my powers? Maybe I should talk with Grandma?
