When we all got back to the cabin, plus three people, the trainers didn't go easy on us.
Dominic's mother is lovely, and she helps Mia in the kitchen. This allows Mia to help with the lessons on healing.
Grace, Dominic's sister, decides to sit in on the witchcraft lessons. She wants to be a nurse. Keeping in mind that a majority of the Avic Islands is magical, Grandma thinks this is an excellent idea. Evan, Dominic's brother, is fascinated with the weapons everyone uses, so he follows whoever is going to the training grounds.
Leaving everyone behind during an afternoon break, I find a spot near the side of the mountain to meditate.
During my meditation, I have a vision. It is similar to my dreams. My white falcon is sitting on my shoulder this time, careful not to dig his talons into my skin.
A bear is approaching me, but I am not afraid. A fawn is resting in the brush, calmly watching me. A leopard naps in a nearby tree. They fade and as they do the number 229 comes to mind. Pink fog blankets everything before I'm pulled back to reality.
A measure of calmness washes over me. I am still sad to have to leave a part of me behind, but I find peace in knowing that one day everything will work out for the greater good.
Our one-day break is spent packing up everything that belongs to us. It feels like I've been here longer than I have. Maybe one day I can come back.
EJ goes to town and rents another van, just for the supplies. Apparently, there is a ship bound for the Avic Islands in port in Charleston, South Carolina.
The next morning is frantic, but Grandma keeps everything in line with checklists.
It's a five-hour drive to the coast, and everyone piles into the airplane.
Looking out of the plane's window at the fading coastline, I hope I've made the right decision.
