Alise slips the photo album quietly into the drawer in her bedside table.
Her mother had ended the story just as it came to a climax and left a few minutes ago.
Alise sits on the side of the bed, losing herself in her thoughts.
Her mother seemed visibly affected by the story's next turn, and she resolved to end the story at one of the happier points.
Still, Alise is curious. She wants to know what happened to them. From the way her mother spoke of Axl, Alise knows her mother still has a thing for him. It's obvious in the light in her eyes, the small smile that graces her lips, and the sadness that clouds over her when she speaks of him.
While Jenny speaks highly of what made her relationship with Axl, Jenny remains tight-lipped on the subject of what broke the relationship.
Realising this, and immediately gaining curiosity, Alise decides to Google them. What is it that her mother is hiding?
Alise pulls out her phone and clicks on the safari app, typing in 'Axl Rose and Jenny Delgado.' Immediately, search results pop up for 'Axl Rose and Jenny Delgado breakup', 'Axl Rose and Jenny Delgado together', and 'Axl Rose and Jenny Delgado daughter'. Intrigued by the last search result, Alise clicks on it.
As the little circle spins to show the loading page, Alise's heartbeat picks up. Her palms sweat. Slowly, the blue line at the top of the screen fills its little bar, and the whole page is shown. Alise breathes out in relief.
She scrolls down, only to find that no information is really known.
Then, she goes to the 'images' tab.
The screen fills with pictures of her mother and Axl Rose holding hands, sharing ice cream, kissing, and a comparison of then and now. Alise scrolls down more, looking at all the pictures she can see.
Alise stops scrolling. Her palms sweat again. Her heart rate increases.
It's a picture of her mother and her with a separate picture of Axl. The caption on the picture reads 'Axl's daughter?'
It's enough to have Alise turn off her phone and throw it across the room.
