-- "I'm sorry ..... But I'm leaving," my father told my mother as she collapsed in front of his feet, weeping. "You can't, you can't just leave me, you can't leave us, we have a daughter, Joey! You can't," my mother sniffles. I hated seeing her cry. I hid under the coffee table on the corner of the living room.
He gulped and said, "look, things were good... But I'm just... I'm not in love with you anymore. No in love... With this life." I literally thought I heard something in my mother crack as her hand held her chest, like of she were to let go she would literally fall to pieces. "Please, Joey, please don't leave us. I can make this work, just tell me what I need to do and I'll do it," my mother begged.
He shook his head and said, "get up! Stand on your own two feet. Don't be so... Pathetic." Tears streamed down my little face as I watched from under the table. Neither mom or dad knew I was there. It made me sad to see them fight, why was daddy being so mean?
"What about Alexis," my mothers voice cracked, "she's your baby too!" My dad looked down for a second and then said, "she's grown enough now." My mothers face contorted to a look of disbelief as she spat ," she's 10 years old, you bastard!"
My dad picked up his suitcases and said, "don't wait up. Take care of yourself." My mother rushed to her feet. She followed him out to his car. She begged, she pleaded, she groveled.
Daddy never came back. I asked mommy where he went. She never had a reply. I asked my mommy when she was coming home. Again she never had a reply.
I've accepted the fact that daddy will never come back. --
"Alexis Ariana Lopez," my mothers voice rung out in my ears. I sighed and tossed my thick blanket off of me, leaving the comfort of it's warmth only to have the cold surround me. I threw my feet off the side of my bed and slipped on my house shoes.
I ran down the stairs and to the kitchen. "Yes, mommy dearest," I mocked. She gave me a glare and said, "get ready, Lexi. You have school today and yes you have to go." I groaned, "why do I have to go to school mom? Can't I just be homeschooled?" She sighed out loud.
"Alexis, you know the alpha proposed new pack laws, and with that is every wolf must attend school until they are 18 and 6 months old. Which leaves you with 2 more months of school. You'll survive," she said and set a plate of bacon, pancakes and hash browns in front of me. "You don't know that," I mumbled and started to stuff my face.
After finishing my food, I went upstairs to get dressed. My mother was so tense all the time. I guess that's because she's the beta of our pack. Not to mention the only female beta in all of the United States.
I quickly looked through my closet, deciding on a pair of high waisted ripped black skinny jeans , tan thigh high boots and an off the shoulder creme colored sweater. I threw my long thick hair up in a messy bun and put some pins in it to keep it up. Then, I put on my face. I had a routine for my makeup: my foundation, my contour kit, eyebrows, and then my winged eye-liner.
Thanks to perfecting my eye-liner, I was running slightly late. I grabbed my purse if my bedside dresser and ran down the stairs with lighting speed. "Bye, mom," I yelled as I ran out to my car. I jumped inside and turned it on. I let it warm up a little and used my aux cord to turn on my favorite song "run the streetz" by Tupac. Yeah, I hate girly music, I'd much rather listen to Tupac or biggie, sometimes Eazy E.
I sang along to the words as I drove. "You can run the streets with your thugs, I'll be waiting for you, until you get through, I'll be waiting!" School was only a few minutes from my house, so the song bearly ended as I pulled into the parking lot. I parked my car and sighed as I walked into my personal hell.
