Angelica's words rang in Peggy's head lke a bell as she sat on her and Maria's bedroom floor, her back pressed against the door, hugging her knees as tears were falling down her face like a waterfall

"I love my sister more than anything in this life"

Sister. Not sisters

Peggy didn't understand why she was so upset. There was a whole crack in the friend group now, considering Alex had cheated on Eliza with Maria. And published the entire thing. She should be focusing on her sister, not her stupid feelings. Plus, she already knew the Angelica loved Eliza more than her, although she'd never said it. Until now. Maybe that was it, maybe no matter how many times she told herself, Peggy always hoped that she was wrong, that she was equal to her sisters

It was clear to everyone that Peggy was the least popular of her sisters. While boys would be drooling over Angelica and Eliza, she had to deal with people getting her name wrong and listening to others whisper "Who's the girl in yellow?" And "Why are Angelica and Eliza hanging out with her?" while she walked to class with her sisters. It wasn't just at school either. Angelica and Eliza were both more socially advanced with her. At the dinner table, Angelica would talk about the 41 things she had accomplished that day, and the most exciting thing Peggy ever had to say was "I spoke to the guy at the counter without stuttering today" and that didn't even happen often

Her family and friends loved her, that was true. But they were all better than her, and everyone knew it. They didn't rub it in, not intentionally. It wasn't their fault Peggy couldn't help but feel utter disappointment in herself after Alex talked about a breakthrough in the debate club, or Angelica got herself a boyfriend

She always felt the people in her life talked to her out of pity, not because they liked her, or they felt they were stuck with her because Angelica and Eliza always forced her to socialize with other human beings

Well, everyone but Lafayette. He was different. She could feel the genuineness when he laughed at her jokes, see the admiration when she was rambling about a topic that she was passionate about, or hear the honesty in his voice when he was trying to get her out of one of her episodes of self-doubt. Of course, Maria was her best friend, and she always would be, but Lafayette was another type of best friend. He talked about her with his own friends and when he did, he talked about her to them the same way he'd talk about one of his friends to her. He cared about her, wether she was there or not. He was like a reminder that she was there to others.

Speaking of, she heard a familiar french accent through the door
"Peggy? Can I come in?"
"Sure..." Peggy mumbled, wiping off some excess tears as she moved back to allow Lafayette in

As soon as he noticed her face, Lafayette sat beside Peggy, putting his arm round her shoulder
"Do you want to talk?" He asked quietly
"Yeah... It's not important though, so you don't have to-"
"If it's making you cry, then it's important" He cut her off
"Yeah but there's so much going on and we have so much more to worry about than my stupid feeling! I have to make sure Maria doesn't get torn apart by Angie, I need to be there for my sister, and I'm over here crying over my own stupid problems when I should be helping her! And-" Peggy was cut off by Lafayette hugging her, putting her head onto his shoulder
"Eliza has Angelica for now, you can talk to her later, but right now? We're gonna sit here until you feel okay, okay?" His voice was stern, but soft
Peggy paused for a second
"Just... Angelica basically admitted that she loves Eliza more... It's stupid. I always knew, I just wasn't ready to hear it I guess..."
"Okay, first of all, I don't want to hear you saying any of your problems are stupid ever again, because they are just as important as anyone elses. And second, Angelica was just mad, I'm sure she loves you so much"
"I know she loves me, at least, I hope she does, but it's just accepting that I am not, and will never be the favourite"
"Well, you don't need to be the favourite to be great. You're ambitious, loyal, smart, fun and a good person, and that has nothing to do with your sisters or their popularity. You're amazing, and who cares if people don't see it?"
Peggy said nothing, she just hugged Lafayette. He didn't say anything, he just stroked her hair a little before getting up and extending a hand to her. Peggy smiled a little and took it. Lafayette hugged her one last time
"You ready?" He asked her
"Uh-huh" Peggy mumbled
"Then let's do this, and maybe you should talk to your sisters about the whole thing. They want to be there for you"
They left the room, Peggy feeling so much better

Okay so I wanna explain something. This shifted more to the platonic side of Leggy, but that was because this was actually my starting idea for Not Forgotten Anymore! And at this point in the story, they were both good friends, and hadn't really realized they liked one another yet. I really wanted to get the basics of Not Forgotten Anymore out because I was proud of the story idea, I'm just better at oneshots I think. Anyway I hoped you enjoyed and have a nuce day/night wherever you are! :)
