Superhero AU where Lafayette is a hero who has the ability to fly and Peggy is a villain who has super strength and loads of contraptions because the person who suggested this wants angst and I'm not experienced with it but I can sure try :)

(⚠️Trigger Warning⚠️) Being hit by a car, death

"T-thank you sir!" The woman cried as she pulled her children to their feet after being saved from a car being hurtled their way
"No problem madame" Lafayette smiled as he ruffled the youngest childs hair. He turned towards the source of danger

Peggy Schuyler. His most frequent client. She was wearing her usual yellow jumpsuit, her belt filled with different tools, the one that was missing was in her hand, a sort of pocket-size grappling hook that was connected to a balcony, holding her up

"Bonjour madame. Care to explain why you tried to kill another innocent family?" He narrowed his eyes as he took off towards her

"Bored" She replied, smirking as he stopped in front of her "I began to get worried, you're late" She put on an over exaggerated face of concern, making Lafayette roll his eyes

"Well, by now I assume you know the drill. I'll need to bring you in" He sighed a little

"Nah. I don't wanna. Besides, what's the point of you trying? I always escaoe, and you always fail. Why do you try so hard?"

"Because, unlike you, I have a functioning moral-compass and I'm a decent person who stands for justice"
Peggy laughed. He found it quite a nice sound, really. If she wasn't the way she was, then maybe she could've been good, maybe they could've been friends, maybe more...

"Or... you can come with me? I could help you. No-one knows who you are, you could start over?"

Peggy eyes widened a little, for the first time, it seemed something he said had gotten through. Then, she looked away, and he knew he'd lost

"No. No way in hell am I going to act all nice and innocent just to play a picture perfect part. I'm done pretending to be something I'm not!!" She yelled the last part, taking Lafayette by surprise. He knew nothing about this girl, he had only pieced together things, but her home life didn't seem like it was any good. Neither did her family

"Peggy.." He said softly, slowly edging closer until they were only a few inches apart

"Stop trying to change me... I'm never gonna fit. You can mould me into your image as much as you want, but it won't work" Peggy snarled

"Well, if you won't go willingly" Lafayette grabbed Peggy's wrist "I'll take you in myself" Peggy flinched, startled, and she let go of the device she was holding. She was far above the groud, the fall would kill her, so Lafayette kept a hold of her wrist

"Heh, this reminds me of that one time when we-"
"No. Don't remind me"
"What? Am I that bad of a kisser?"

Lafayette closed his eyes, trying to refrain from pinching his nose as the memory invaded his head. It had been dark, just after a hards days work, when he ran into her swinging from the city buildings. Her grappling hook broke, and she fell, so he caught her, unfortunately he had accidentally put his hand round her waist to stop her from falling to her death. He found a chance and tried to take her in, so to escape, she kissed him. The weird thing was the fact that neither of them had disliked the kiss, and they both let it happen for just a little too long. Peggy hadn't anticipated her own reaction, so maybe if he hadn't been stuck in a weird state of shock and confusion, he could've caught her

Lafayette felt his face go red, he looked down, expecting to see a smug look on Peggy's face, when instead, he found a soft smile and a face just a little less red than his own. She blinked a few times and composed herself a little, her face moulding back into a serious expression. Peggy looked up at him

"Let me go"
"What?!"
"You heard me, if you want to get rid of me, for good, then let go"
"I'm not letting go"
"Why?"
"Because..." Lafayette couldn't answer that question. It was hard to explain the idea of morals to someone without any, and if she wanted him to let go, he wouldn't, because it would annoy her that he didn't do what she wanted

"Well, before I take you in, might as well get your stuff" Lafayette mumbled, hovering towards the device that had been holding Peggy up. He picked it off the building and handed it to her
"Thanks, you just gave me a way out" Peggy smirked and winked at him. Lafayette was confused, until he felt a pain in the arm the had been holding Peggy up. She had kicked him, and with the device, she was going to get away...

"Damn it..." Lafayette grumbled as Peggy swung off to another building. He flew after her, being careful to avoid birds and other things.

"Ugh, do you ever quit it??" Peggy groaned and jumped off the building, hooking onto a streetlight to ensure a safe landing. Lafayette followed her down. They were standing at the side of the road. Traffic had resumed, so he could barely hear Peggy over the sound of car engines

"No. I don't quit it, you'd have to kill me to get me to quit, I think" He smirked. Peggy narrowed her eyes, then smirked back

"Well, if that's all it takes~" She punched him, hard. And before he could return to his senses, she shoved him. Right onto the road

He didn't have time to avoid the car coming his way...

Peggy could see it too, she had thought he'd bounce back quickly, she hadn't thought this would happe

She reached out her hand, trying to save him

But it was too late...

2 months later

Here lies
Marquis de Lafayette
Hero to New York
1988 - 2018

Everyone had moved on. Everyone had accepted that their hero was dead. Family and friends only visited occasionally and the only other publicity the grave received was in school trips to visit the grave like an artifact at a museum

To all but one

Peggy Schuyler never terrorised the city again. She was never talked about, she abided the law, she done good deeds.

She had been more or less redeemed by almost everyone who knew her past

Everyone but herself

Peggy faced the grave, trembling, as the yellow flowers in her hand drifted in the cold wind. Tears fell onto the ground, and she collapsed onto her knees, her sobs breaking the silence

"I-I'm... I'm so s-sorry. I never- I never meant to-" She apologised to no-one, her voice breaking "I-I love you. I-I didn't mean it. I-I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry. I never meant-" She paused, unable to say anything, for fear of crying so loud she'd wake up any sleeping citizens. Once she got herself under control, she managed to utter, in a voice so small it was barely heard

"I never meant to hurt you..."

Was that angsty enough? I hope it was angsty enough. Sorry if it wasn't. Anyway, have a nice day/night wherever you are! :)
