Hidden Among Us

Just a random Among Us AU because the idea hit me and my entire being just went "...yes"

Also this'll be angsty because I wrote an angst story last time and I enjoyed it

"We've received a warning from MiraHQ" Washington said, his voice low "There has been... an invasion of sorts. Two of our crew have been discovered to be... imposters. These imposters are not of Earth. They will do anything to exterminate this whole crew. They can travel through the ventilation sytems and can sabotage the ship. We cannot let them win"

What? Two of their friends, people they'd known for 5 years since the start of their training, were liars?

Eliza gasped and grabbed Alex's arm, Laurens uttered a small 'No...'
"So, to avoid any casualties as best as we can, we will be splitting into duos. You may choose your partner and you will complete your set tasks together. That is all"
A small chatter broke out over the crew. After a few minutes, the pairs had been decided. Alexander and Eliza would join up. Angelica and Burr would join up. Hercules and John would join up. And Lafayette and Peggy would join up

"If there are any problems, call me oran emergency meeting. And if you see a body, do not hesitate to report it"
The pairs went off together. Washington stood at the window of the cafeteria, staring off into the void of space

"I have to do some stuff in Admin, do you want to go there first?" Lafayette turned to his girlfriend, who was staring at nothing "Peggy?"
Peggy turned around "Hmm? Oh, yeah, Admin sounds good"
Lafayette took her hand and rested his helmet on hers "We'll be okay, trust me"
"Heh... Let's just go" She dragged him off to Admin, emphasis on the drag

About an hour later, while Lafayette was painfully waiting for the files to finish downloading. There was a scream from O2. A second later something red flashed across the inside of his space helmet

BODY REPORTED

Peggy glanced at him and they ran towards the cafeteria
"What happened?? Why-" Laurens spoke, glacing at Hercules
"Herc, what happened?"
"...Burr. He's-" Hercules started, but he couldn't say any more. The message managed to get across nonetheless
"What?? No... no you can't be serious. He can't be..." Angelica's hand flew to her mouth
"Oh drop the act Angie. You were his partner" Hercules snapped
"What?! How dare you even suggest that I am one of those things!"
"Angelica, calm down. Hercules, you too"
"But she-" Hercules started, but he was silenced by Washington staring through his helmet
"Who was near the room where it happened Herc?" Laurens asked
"No-one. I had went to go to the bathroom, right? And I passed Security, and there he was"
"Right..." Alex mumbled, just barely audible
"What? That's the truth" Hercules raised his hand in a surrendering manner
"Just find it suspicious that you were alone with the body, and just happened to find the body. Laurens, he said he needed the restroom, correct?"
John nodded "Yup"
"Why would I report a body of someone I supposedly killed??" Hercules snapped
"That's what an imposter would want us to think..." Lafayette murmered
"You can't possibly think it's me! It isn't, I swear!!" Hercules's voice almost broke "I swear I can-"
"We only have a certain amount of time here, we need to vote" Washington cut him off. There was the sound of buttons being pressed and Hercules protesting to no avail

"Come on. Imposter" Washington grabbed Hercules by his arm and lead him away
Hercules tried to fight back, no longer holding back any tears
"Please! Please no!! Please don't kick me off the ship please!!" He was pushed into the docking area by Washington. The door closed. Hercules started banging on it, his cries ungeard because of the window separating him from the crew

The door open, he flew back into the dark void. The disembodied voice of the computer echoed through the ship

Blue8 was ejected

"Angelica, Laurens. You two will pair up" Washington held his hands behind his back and walked away

The group split up, Lafayette and Peggy heading towards MedBay.
"I'll do this scan, then do the simon says machine in Reactor, fix the wires in Electrical, then we'll do your tasks ok?" Lafayette said to his girlfriend as he stood on the pad
"Sure" Peggy mumbled

Suddenly, the room fell into darkness, the only light coming from the screen
"You okay?" Lafayette asked, cutting off the scan as he tried to find Peggy in the darkness
"I'm fine- Just, get the scan done. Want me to try and fix it?"
"The others will get it surely"
"Yeah, you're right"
Lafayette smiled a little, as he restarted the scan. He thought he heard a noise behind him, but brushed it off as just the scanner being weird

He finished the scan while the lights were still off. He supposed the others had the same thoughts as him 'Someone else will handle it'
He hopped off the pad once the scan was done and was immediately grabbed by someone on the dark
"Agh!!" He almost punched the person holding him, until he realised who it was
"Hi" He could hear Peggy's shy smile
"Hi" Lafayette tried to not laugh at his girlfriends awkwardness
"So... Do you think anyone's here?" Peggy murmured, almost unheard behind her helmet
"Nope... Which gives me a perfect chance" Lafayette smirked and quietly unclipped his helmet
"Chance to do wh-" Lafayette unclipped her helmet and kissed her on the lips. He could sense Peggy rolling her eyes in the dark, while kissing back
They pulled apart, Lafayette grinned and giggled a bit
"Aww, I forgot how adorable your giggle was" Peggy said, while stuffing her helmet on
"Shut up" Lafayette felt his face turn red
The lights turned back on, and Lafayette put his helmet on
"Electrical?" Peggy offered, taking his hand
"Of course"
They walked hand in hand down the corridor. Lafayette almost expected to find anody, but was pleasantly surprised when he found no blood

Lafayette enjoyed fixing the wires. They were colourful and he enjoyed puzzles, so they were perfect for him. After the last two wires clicked together with a fizzing sound, he felt his girlfriend hug him from behind
"You are, awfully clingy today, mon amor, are you okay?"
"I'm sorry" Peggy mumbled, on the verge of tears
"Sorry? What fo-" He was cut off by a huge pain in his stomach. Uncertain, he looked down

There was a knife in his stomach

And Peggy was holding it there

"I'm sorry. But I have to do this. It's the only way for us to win" Peggy was quietly crying now

"You're a... a..." Lafayette struggled to get the words out

"Shhh... shh, don't think about that... Hey, remember, back on Earth, when we went to the beach that one time? Remember how much fun we had?" Peggy's voice was low and soft. Despite everything, Lafayette smiled. They had been on break, that was where he told Peggy he loved her

"I love you, so so much, I'm so glad I met you. I love you, okay?" Peggy's voice was cracking

Lafayette could feel his conscious slipping. He managed to utter 3 words in French before everything went black

"Je t'aime aussi..."
