I didn't know I was lost without you

8| Maybe I should start from the End.

Fort Valley, Georgia

Hope Narration: There's something I need to tell you. I just don't know-how. So to make you understand maybe I should start from the end.

We see Hope, Landon, and Dr.Saltzman wake up in a field with a flaming crater in front of them.

Landon: Where the hell are we? What happened?

Alaric: I don't know. But I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

Three days ago.

Hope narration: I knew Landon Needed Help and As his friend, that's all I needed to know. 

We see Hope sneaking around the school while everyone is asleep. She walks into Alaric's office and takes his keys. She is about to leave when she gets caught.

Alaric: Going somewhere? Better questions where the hell do you think you're going with my keys, and without telling me?

Hope: Um, you know, I just said some really harsh things to you yesterday, and so I just wanted to get you an oil change as a peace offering.

Alaric: At 3:00 AM. Hope, you gonna commit grand theft auto, which is a felony. You're ditching school right before midterm exams begin, and you made it very clear to me that you see me as an authority figure and nothing more. So tell me, why shouldn't I suspend you this very second?

Hope rolls up her sleeve to show him the braclet.

Alaric: And what is that.

Hope: It's basically a supernatural compass.

Alaric: Well, I hope it's pointing you to your room 'cause that's where you're going.

Hope: I'm going after Landon. If this thing is glowing it means that he's in trouble.

Alaric: Then we're going, and I'm driving.

Hope Narration: I didn't know it yet, but  Landon was In Kansas looking for his mom. He had no idea what he was walking into. None of us did.

Hope and Alaric are in his car and we see them entering Indiana.

Alaric: Indiana. Crossroads of America. What's the capital?

Hope: We learned that in, like, eighth grade.

Alaric: Oh, good, then you should know it. 

Hope: I didn't say I absorbed the information.

Alaric: Yeah, well, you're not saying much of anything. Look, if you can't handle simple grade school geography... you're gonna flunk your exams.

Hope: Are Lizzie and Josie studying? Maybe you should focus more on them and you would know as I do.

Alaric: Yeah, well, they're still in Europe with Caroline, thank God.

Hope: Religion has no place in the classroom, Dr. Saltzman. The Supreme Court made sure of that with its ruling on Engle V. Vitale. And Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana. I'm getting an "A" in geography. Chill. ( She looks at the bracelet to see it changing direction.) Take the next left. He's on the move.

Alaric: All right. Indiana is surrounded by what four states?

Hope: I thought we just established I am dominating geography.

Alaric: FIne. Then let's move on to science.

Hope narration: !8 and a half hours is a long time to spend on the road, and even longer when you're being car-schooled.
