Tears of joy filled my eyes. "We're having a little girl." Tom grinned ear to ear at me as I smiled back. "I can't believe this. A little girl." He hugged me tightly after the technician cleaned me up. "Congratulations. Here's some pictures of the ultrasound." The woman handed Tom the pictures.
It finally sunk in that this was actually happening. This wasn't a wait a few more years. No, this was happening now. Tom and I were actually going to be parents to a little girl in about six months.
As we got in the car, I decided to call my parents. Tom held my hand as we drove home. "Hello?" My mom answered the phone. "Hi mom." I was holding my breath. "Oh, hi sweetheart. Is everything okay?" I dodged the question, "Is dad there?" I heard her call his name followed by footsteps. "He's right here and you're on speaker so go ahead."
I had them on speaker too in case I couldn't say anything so Tom would be able to for me. "So I have some news.." I was breathing heavily. "Yes...?" Dad's voice was filled with anxiety. I took a very deep breath and said those two words that would change everything forever, "I'm pregnant."
