Dimensional travel was exactly what it needed. In the split second it took for Junior Lieutenant Erin Cobos to switch dimension, the monster absorbed enough power to regain its semi-physical form. It booked it as fast as possible away from Junior Lieutenant Erin Cobos. It would rather die in the fiery collision it was supposed to than spend another second with her, but... There was still the possibility to involve her.
As tempting as the engines were, those were out. Too obvious.
Besides, the monster had a better plan for becoming much more than a permanent installation of a dimension.
