The night it happened
I didn't know what it was
A feeling of
Unwholeness;
Broken and
Shattered and
Unable to fit back together like
I once was
Getting out of that shower
I was a new person I think
Because the world
Suddenly
Shone in a new harsh light
She wanted to take you from me
She told me
"If you don't want him,
I'll have him"
And no
No
I wanted you
I got into that shower to
Be clean but
All I ended up doing was
Sitting with my head between my knees
Staring at the water running down
The drain
When I got out of that shower
With a new identity
I listened closely
Intently
To my chest
While I didn't know
What that feeling was
It was just the beginning.
