If you are sad or unhappy, here are some tips to cheer up.
1) Hug someone
When we hug someone, a hormone called oxytocin is released that is associated with happiness and less stress. It makes you feel that you aren't alone and thus you will feel happier.
2) Listen to uplifting songs
Music will NEVER fail to uplift your mood. You feel happier almost instantly. Sad songs can, surprisingly, also make you happier because you connect to that music and you know you aren't alone.
3) Watch funny videos
You'll definitely after watching funny videos and that can actually make you happier.
4) Get some fresh air and sun
Taking a walk in fresh air under the Sun can help you feel refreshed and happy as endorphins (feel good hormones) are released when you exercise.
5) Look at cute pictures of puppies or kittens
Studies show that looking at cute pictures of puppies or kittens or baby animals can actually make you feel happier. Then tend to distract you by their *ahem* cuteness, so you'll feel happier.
6) Eat chocolate
Antioxidants present in chocolates are known to reduce stress hormones. Dark chocolate has a compound called anandamide that can make you feel good and even block out feelings of sadness ! Not only does chocolate taste good, it also uplifts your mood !
7) Force a smile or laugh
When we force a smile or laugh, we trick our brain into thinking that we are happy, so we actually feel happier.
8) Look through your old pictures
When you look through old memories, the nostalgia distracts you from the problems in the present and you'll feel happier. Childhood photos will always make you feel better because they are just so cute !
9) Read funny jokes
Anything funny will cheer you up because it makes you laugh and laughing releases endorphins which make you feel happy. Laughter is the best medicine !
10) Do something nice for somebody
Nothing is better than making someone smile or laugh. Offer a helping hand to that kid whose books fell down or to that woman who is carrying too much stuff or to that kid who forgot his book at home or Smile at strangers. These are very small acts of kindness but they are actually effective. Not only will they make the day of the person you helped but they will also make your day.
