Present-day - 3rd September
...
Somehow, Kira was reminded of the battle between her and Chrollo Lucilfer years ago as she strolls through the city.
Her hatsu, The Game Zone that could grant her invulnerability, actually have a few cons, that is :
1. The invulnerability rules only able to grant Kira an immunity against all form of physical attacks, but not against non-physical such as air poisoning.
2. The rule ONLY includes attacks inflicted by the opponent that Kira activated The Game Zone for, therefore she could still get hurt by another opponent, or by herself.
3. The rule only lasted for 24 hours.
But no one needs to know that.
Suddenly, a loud ringing broke Kira's train of thoughts. It came from an old rusty antique alarm clock on display by a street vendor, who sat on the concrete floor not much further from where she's standing now.
"Ah- it rings.."
She heard the street vendor muttered as he stops the ringing. But soon, the old man noticed Kira has been looking in his direction, he smiled with a noticeable 1 tooth missing from his upper teeth.
"Hehe... Are you interested in antiques? Come drop by my shop. I have good stuff here.."
The street vendor is a small old man, having ragged clothes as his attire, numerous old rings decorated his fingers and his skins were ghostly dry and wrinkled.
"No, thank you."
"Hehe... That's too bad.."
Kira was about to push herself forward in the opposite direction when the odd street vendor said, "Then, would you like to buy your 'past'?"
"What?", she turned to face the man and asked, confusion displayed all over her face.
"Would you like to buy a 'past'?" He reiterates. "Don't be so dubious... Hehe."
The white-haired girl walks towards the street vendor and kneeling in front of him.
"What do you mean 'past'?"
The old man smiled, "It's literal. Would you like a 'past'?"
Kira huffed in annoyance, but at the same time curious about the 'past' he's been speaking about. She mentally calculates how much money she had in her purse.
"What will happen if I say I want it?"
"Oh, you want it?" He said in a victorious tone that Kira wanted to punch him.
"......."
Noticing how Kira's eyes bored into his, the old man chuckled before closing his eyes for a few seconds, seemingly trying to meditate.
He spoke suddenly.
"Hmm... In your past, 12 years ago looked dark and gloomy.."
Uh-huh... He's definitely a con-man-
"It all happened when... You saved your brother from starvation.."
...!!
Kira's breath hitched, her eyes went wide as she stumbled backward and sat on the ground, her heart pounding against her ribs.
"Uh-oh.." The street vendor opened up his eyes again.
"You closed your heart so suddenly... Then it's over.."
"What?"
"I don't think you can come face-to-face with your 'past'. So I can't sell it to you-"
"Rubbish!" Kira got up and kneel in front of the old man. "You are a fraud aren't you? Earning loads by tricking and cheating people-"
The old man just simply laughed.
"Ah, you don't have to pay... But what I've told you just now were true.. You knew it.."
Kira gritted her teeth in annoyance. She would very much slit his throat at this moment.
"I'm glad to meet an interesting customer... Come back again someday... Hehe.."
Kira got up hastily and stomped her feet away, not before she's able to take a glance at the old alarm clock that rang earlier. The time has stopped at 8:29. It wasn't even 8:29 now...
She decided not to let the street vendor's words get the best of her right now at this moment, for the sake of tonight's mission. But her memories started flooding in like water breaking through a dam.
"Enolla..!"
"Your bloodlust is oozing..!"
Voices of some very familiar people were haunting her, Kira proceeds to place her palms against her ears, hopefully, the noise will go away, but to no avail.
The noises came from her very mind.
"She never showed any signs of improvement in her assassin training for the past years and she hasn't even started her nen training yet... How is this possible??"
Kira shut her eyes off this time, leaning against a wall by a dark alley as she concentrates on shutting off those abundances of voices that she spend her past years forgetting for.
'Damn that old man!' She thought. Her head was starting to aches.
"O-onēchan?"
Suddenly, Kira heard a child's voice, it was trembling and very weak, but she heard it loud and clear, so loud that it blocks off the rest of the other annoying voices, the child's voice is all she heard now.
She opened up her eyes again, all she saw was blur. It was then Kira realized she had tears in her eyes.
Mil...
"Damn those memories.." Kira muttered, wiping her tears away furiously. She can't be drawn in too much into her memories now. She got a task ahead of her...
She took out her phone and glance at the time.
7:16
Kira could already sense the tension in the air as the sky grew darker.
Tonight, Yorknew City will be filled with bloodshed.
