"you have a really pretty voice, y/n."

y/n smiled down at his music sheets, setting his pencil down and turning in his spinning chair to see koganegawa sitting criss-cross on his bed. "you think so?"

koganegawa nodded enthusiastically, jumping off the bed so he can sit on the floor beside y/n's chair. "can you play me something?"

"maybe later."

koganegawa looked up at him with big, pleading eyes. and when y/n made eye contact he immediately wondered if that's what the definition of a 'kicked puppy' looked like, and how could he say no to such a face? "i promise, i'll play you something tonight okay?"

koganegawa visibly perked up, eyes brightening as he thanked y/n repeatedly. y/n smiled and shook his head, "you don't have to thank me, just...calm down a bit?"

koganegawa shut his mouth immediately, pretending to zip it and throw away the key. y/n stared at the male, koganegawa has been so energetic lately. how? y/n asked himself that at least five times a day. when they first met he definitely wasn't like this but koganegawa always seemed to brighten y/n's days so he didn't mind it much.

y/n turned back to his music sheets, strumming his guitar softly as he hummed. koganegawa shuffled closer to y/n little by little, watching y/n with sparkling eyes. koganegawa had no trouble keeping quiet if it meant being able to listen to y/n as long as he wanted.

y/n nodded his head, quickly jotting down some lyrics on one of his papers. "hey, you've been here for a week...you don't want to check on your family?"

"maybe later." koganegawa said with a soft voice. the conversation ended at that, koganegawa taking the time to wander around y/n's room as y/n continued to strum his guitar.

as he looked at y/n's shelf, koganegawa's eyes fell on a framed picture, it was of y/n and two more people he didn't know the names of—a cute blonde girl and a really tall male with a man bun. it was an odd combination and it left
koganegawa wondering how close they're were to have the picture framed.

koganegawa doesn't remember seeing them, and he's over at y/n's home all the time. he wondered if he was taking up all of y/n's time, perhaps even stressing him by being over. he just felt safe near y/n, he's not sure why but he wanted to relish that feeling for as long as he could.

when koganegawa and y/n first met it wasn't the best circumstances, koganegawa was wandering around in front of y/n's house when he came out—visibly upset.

then y/n saw him, rolled his eyes and walked straight passed him. koganegawa was shocked, for more reasons than one, but all he knew is he felt a longing feeling towards y/n. so he followed him, y/n desperately tried to ignore him but no avail, he sighed and gave in.

"why are you staring at me?" y/n mumbled, a little annoyed at the fact his alone time was interrupted.

koganegawa's eyes widened when he was caught, "how–you–i...want to be friends!"

it was y/n's number one rule not to talk to them, but he couldn't help it. koganegawa had looked so sad, and when y/n even spared a glance to him he became so excited.

koganegawa was lonely, but y/n changed that for him, he liked y/n a lot. he was always a little jealous when y/n went out with other people, and eventually y/n stopped little by little just to be in koganegawa's company. that's why he felt bad, he was the reason y/n had no friends to hang out with. yet at the same time he felt happy he was chosen over them.

"what's wrong?" y/n spoke up, and koganegawa now noticed he'd been staring at the picture for too long, apologizing. "it's okay, is something on your mind?"

koganegawa hesitated before pointing at the framed picture, "who are these people?"

y/n smiled, "those are my friends, asahi and hitoka."

"oh.." he whispered, "i'm the reason you don't go out anymore, right?"

y/n furrowed his brows, "of course not, why do you think that?"

koganegawa shrugged, "in the beginning you left all the time with friends...but now you don't."

"cause you're my friend, why do i need to go out when i can hang out with you here?"

koganegawa nodded and just left it at that. there was no use in explaining how he felt since y/n probably wouldn't completely understand, it was hard for y/n to look at things from his point of view.

"if you're ever thinking like that again tell me okay?"

"okay—"

y/n's door creaked opened, his sister stepping inside with furrowed brows. she glanced around the room in confusion, "who are you talking to?"

y/n glanced at his bed where koganegawa sat frozen and shook his head, "nobody.."

"okaaaay," she drawled out. she must think y/n went crazy at this point, this wasn't the first time she caught y/n like this. "your hot friend is here, should i let him in?"

y/n nodded, waiting until she left before turning to koganegawa. he frowned when he was no longer sitting on his bed, he must've went to see his family...

"y/n, it's been a while."

y/n stood up, pulling asahi into a hug. "it really has."
