It was late at night and you awoke to a horrible smell of wood burning. By the time you woke up, it was too late. The fire had surrounded you which gave you no chance to escape. "(First Name)! Are you there?!" You hear a scream from the other side of the door. "I'm here, brother!" You reply, making your voice as loud as possible. "Don't move! I'll get you out of there!"

It was difficult to breathe when the fire keeps getting bigger. The increased inhaling of smoke made your mind go hazy along with the sound of the pounding door as your brother tries to pry it open. When the door was pushed open, your brother quickly spots you and carried you outside. "You're going to be fine okay?" He says, rubbing the soot away from your face. "Wait for me here." Before he could go back, you pull onto his shirt, telling him not to go. He gives you a small smile and places a kiss on your forehead. "Wait for me, okay?" He gently removes your hand from the hem of his shirt and runs back into the burning house.

As you waited for him, the fire was only getting worse. The wood had collapsed which only made the fire even bigger. The skies were starting to darken. A little drop of water fell onto the concrete floor which soon was followed by more. You waited and waited yet your brother hasn't still come out. After thirty minutes, the rain had completely eradicated the fire yet there were no signs of him. "Brother?" You call out to him but there was no reply. You walk towards the destroyed house, searching for your brother. You stopped at the front door and saw a picture frame with a hand holding it.

"Why?" You couldn't understand why your brother would come back into the fire just to get a frame. "Brother..." You held onto the cold hand that was once full of warmth. "Brother!" As if the skies knew how you felt, the rain started to pour harder along with the tears that gradually left your eyes. The immense pain of losing a loved one was something you didn't want to feel again after losing your parents. Now that your brother left you as well, you hated the feeling because it made you feel empty.

You pick up the frame and wipe the dirt away. It was a photo of your parents, brother, and you. Deciding to keep the picture as a memory, you remove it from the frame and an envelope falls onto the floor. You pick it up and open it. Inside the envelope was an invitation that made you regain hope. "If I win, I can revive my family again." You thought as you carefully put the photo inside your pocket. Before heading to the address, you take one last look at the burned house. "Brother, wait for me."
