Ever since you had left your shared apartment, Edgar hadn't noticed what was happening. He still continued on with his. Although he was wondering where you had gone. When he woke up the next day, he didn't see you. You weren't there to knock on his door and leave his breakfast in front of the door. You weren't there to call him to come out and look at the beautiful weather. You weren't there to give him a light massage on his shoulders whenever he would get tired of painting.Edgar knocked on your door but received no reply. "(First Name)?" He knocks once again before entering. He noticed that the bed was neatly placed. He knocked on the comfort room door and received no reply as well. Edgar peeked inside and there was still no sign of you. Edgar was going to leave the room yet he saw something shining on the bedside drawer. He takes the note you have written to him and reads it. He felt as if his whole world was crushed. He couldn't believe that you had completely left him and he didn't notice.
He glances at the ring on the drawer and he glances at his own ring on his finger. He had lost you due to his own selfish self. He had neglected you, never giving you even a little bit of his time but what struck him the most was that you believed that Demi was his new lover. What he hadn't told you was that Demi was actually helping him out to formally ask you your hand in marriage. All those paintings were actually store-bought and Edgar had just altered the painting, making it look more realistic.
Yes, you still admired Edgar's work because he loves his job. He's been a genius at it when he was young although you had secretly wished that he wasn't a genius at painting so that he could spend time with you but that wish never came true. He only got better and many rich people were eyeing on him to paint their portrait. Edgar sat on your bed, holding your ring in his hand. Where has he gone wrong? He thought and thought yet he still had no answer.
Vera had comforted you ever since you had left Edgar. She had been giving you whatever food that you had been craving, whatever drink you wanted to drink, basically, whatever you wanted. As your best friend, it was her duty to take care of you in times of need. "You don't need to baby me, Vera. I'm (Age) years old, you know?" You cover yourself with the blankets. "Yeah right, you keep saying that yet you won't move an inch away from the bed."
"Uhh... no?" Vera sighs. She pulls the covers away from you, revealing your disheveled hair. "You're still thinking about him no?" Vera took your hand in hers. "You still love him don't you?" You kept silent. You were thinking of the memories you had spent together before he started bringing Demi to the apartment. What you had not actually known was that Demi was a wedding planner.
Vera left the room to give you space. Vera had actually been receiving calls from an unknown number but she kept rejecting it. This time, she got enough and took the call. "I swear if you call again, I will block you!"
"Wait! Listen to me."
"Who are you?"
"Edgar."
The moment Vera had heard his name, she ended the call. He called again and she rejected it. She was about to block it although when he called for the last time, Vera accepted it as she was going to officially block him after the call. "Say your last words." She threatens. "I will give you the truth and the truth only so please listen." Edgar had told the truth to Vera and she had mentally gave herself a facepalm. "You're such an idiot."
"Yes, a big one too."
"So all I need to do is open the television at seven in the evening?"
"Yes, I will go live."
"Alright. I wish the best of luck to you."
"Thank you."
The call ended and Vera released a relieved sigh. If she had ended the call, she would've never known the truth. Time forward to the evening, it was already 6:58 and Vera had urged you to watch a movie series with her although she had lied. She had to comply with Edgar's request and rebuild your relationship with him again. She had threatened you to watch with her or else she wouldn't give you food anymore.
Vera turns the television on at exactly seven and it had projected Edgar's face. His hair wasn't neatly tied in a ponytail and there were dark circles under his eyes. "(First Name) (Last Name), my dear, I deeply express my apologies to you. I will make this short. I will officially retire as a painter if you come back to me and stay by my side once more. I will tell you everything and swear by the truth only." He shows the ring you have left back in the apartment. What was your answer? To accept or to reject?
