15: Internship Choosing

Your Perspective

I arrived at a class a little earlier than usual today. After getting situated, Kendou came over to me, wishing me a good morning. 

You: Oh, good morning Kend-

Itsuka: Oh please, (Y/N), aren't we on a first-name basis by now?

You: I mean . . . I'm not too fond of our relationship being too public.

Itsuka glanced at my chest and began readjusting my tie. I had to attempt to do it myself, so of course, it wasn't done well. Can't even get it right with my quirk either. Ties are ungodly.

Itsuka: Well, we don't have to be overly obnoxious with it then.

She finishes adjusting it and smiles. My face heats up at her smile. It's incredibly cute and melts even the coldest of hearts, including mine. Itsuka sits on my table and crosses her legs as we start talking about stuff today. Today we're going to be able to choose our hero names as well as being able to do what hero to intern with. Mr. Kan came in prompting Itsuka to take her seat. He said that another teacher would come in and help us with choosing our names. He leaves and shortly after Midnight walks in. I can hear Tsuburaba's thoughts from here, jeez, keep it together man. So the first person to get called up is surprised me. 

Midnight: Yes you! I thought that the Sports Festival Runner Up ought to show us what he's made of!

Way to put me on the spot. I got up to the podium and began to think. Psychic Shock is the name of my father and is the hero name passed down from my family a la Iida's family. Though I feel like doing something different. What do I want to be known as?  

Midnight: Have you thought of a name yet?

You: Mhm. 

I turned my board, displaying the name to the class.

The PSI Hero, Esperanto

You: My hero name will be Esperanto. I choose it because the language Esperanto unites people from many places all over the world, combined with the fact it has the word "Esper". So I want to be the esper that unites people.

Midnight: A clever name . . . I applaud it!

The class then gives me compliments on my name causing me to sheepishly smile as I returned to my seat. 

Itsuka: How long did it take for you to come up with that name?

You: 5 minutes. I thought it sounded cool. Plus I can speak the language too.

Itsuka: Really? I feel as though I'm learning something new about you every day!

You: Thank you?

-Timeskip brought by the rest of class telling their names-

Alright! Now that Lunch has passed, we'll be allowed to choose our internships. Mr. Kan displays an image showing how many internships each person got. I had the most of the class with just above 1,500 offers. Meaning I'll have to manually go through and look at them. I know Father would want me to go to his internship, but I'm going to have to go against that for now. 

Fukidashi: Aww, man I should have known that (L/N) would have gotten the most offers.

Yanagi: Well, he did perform the best out of all of us.

Monoma: True true. 

God, all their talking about me is causing me to shrink into myself. Though one hero caught my eye. I've been meaning to practice the defensive part of my quirk, and who better to intern with than the Shield Hero, Crust? I selected my choice before turning to my classmates.

You: So who do you guys have in mind?

Tetsutetsu: I'm interning with Fourth Kind! 

Fukidashi: Wash offered me an internship.

Itsuka: I plan on going with Uwabami. What about you (Y/N)?

You: Well, in order to increase my defensive output, I have decided to intern with Crust. 

Komori: Really? Why not your dad-

Itsuka quickly cut her off by nudging her gently and shaking her head. They all turned to me waiting for an answer.

You: Well, in all honesty, my father is a little overbearing. 

Itsuka raised her eyebrow at this. 

You: But, I feel as though I've learned enough from him. Plus Crust seems cool.

Itsuka: I think that’s pretty understandable.

You: Mhm. Hey, Monoma who are you interning with?

Monoma: Some guy called the X hero, Variable. Never heard of him, but apparently, he can copy people’s abilities like me. Maybe he'll teach me his ways so I can crush Class 1-A-
