Preface

This is a collection of serious or dark short stories with all kinds of LGBT+ characters and other diversity. As with its lighthearted counterweight Light of Heart (I know, original), I aim to write realistic takes and twists on certain clichés and tropes or things I haven't seen (enough). It doesn't have an update schedule, but I will add a new story whenever I finish one that fits the premise.

At the moment, it's not mature, but this might change at some point if I include graphic depictions of suicide or self-harm, sexual assault, violence, ... I don't plan to write any sex scenes if it's not absolutely necessary for the plot (for the same reasons as listed in the preface of Light of Heart: zero experience and I'm on the ace spectrum).

While most stories in Light of Heart still have a romance factor, that will be less prevalent here (and I also plan to include aromantic characters because they don't get the representation they deserve). For a similar reason, I also try to include as much of the LGBT+ spectrum as I'm aware of, which implies there will be people who don't have same-sex relationships (bi, pan, trans, ...) and I don't want any angry/ignorant comments because of that.

However, the stories themselves will feature discrimination of all kinds, including homophobia and transphobia, but also biphobia and aphobia. Some stories will also address issues within the LGBTQ+ community that might be sensitive. For this reason, I want to stress that the characters' opinions and thoughts aren't necessarily mine. I am always willing to learn more about things I don't know since I only have my limited experiences and those I have heard about from friends or through the internet or articles and interviews, but please be polite.

Lastly, I write about people with flawed bodies, people that don't have the whole school drooling over them. When I know someone, I can almost always see the beauty in them, sometimes even in their so-called flaws, and this is what I also want to convey through my stories, how your view of them can change and your first impression doesn't always have to be: "They're gorgeous."
In general, I try to write about bodies and personalities and jobs and situations and identities that often seem to be forgotten and are not written about often enough in my opinion.

Finally, if you've survived my rant above, enjoy and let me know through votes and comments if you did. I love constructive criticism, on my language skill, style, content or otherwise.
