Sauerbraten

This is Delicious...!!
The fork hesitantly lowering down once again you weren't sure to take another bite, being served sauerbraten you hadn't known what to expect.

Used to the oats and concerningly colored water the training corps had fed you you were anxious to eat now.

Knowing of meat but it being considered a jewel in your old housing, now, eyeing the beef the smell and taste intoxicated you like a drug.

Piercing the meat once again to lift it to your mouth your body went rigid, glancing around the small resuaurant it seemed everyone paid mind to themselves.

Noticing something else as well, using not only a fork but a knife to slice through pieces of their meal, their backs arched up and stiff compared to your lazed slouch.

Your eyes turn back down, your vision scowering across the polished wooden table and it's red draped tablecloth.

Spotting a knife you lifted it up, gazing at it only a sliver of your reflection visible in its shine.

With your right hand, you held the sauerbraten down in its position, with your left lifting your knife and beginning to delicately cut through it.

Surprisingly easy as the knife seemed to glide through the more force you put on it, cutting through the meat and separating a portion.

Lifting the fork to your lips once again you took a bite, the food still warm against your tongue you wanted to savor it in your mouth.

The urge to swallow it down in one bite or take little by little so it was not gone fought inside of you, shutting your eyes closed you furrowed your eyebrows as you continued to chew down.

I never want to leave this place.....
In your head you proceeded to drool over the meal even with it in your mouth.

"So how is it, this must be unfamiliar for you"
Being brought out from your thoughts your eyes reopened, forcing yourself to swallow down you met eyes with Erwin.

Forgetting that he was still sitting across from you the impulse to kick yourself grew, ashamed you wondered if you looked idiotic from his eyes.

Fawning over something he probably had every other day made you felt humiliated, shaking your head soflty side to side.

Your lips parting.

"It's good, thank you.."
You mumbled, hoping he couldn't register your words he sat blank for a few seconds, before a faint smile appeared on his face, leaning back in his seat.

"I was worrying if it made you sick, I like to hear that.."
He expressed, turning his eye back down to his food he hadn't undertand why such little things like that upset him.

Seeing the discomfort written on your face only bothered him, becoming troublesome and finally forcing himself to ask.

Dazing at his food his eyes slowly glanced up, his mood shifting it made him irritated thinking of it, wanting to focus on his main concern and that was all.

"What about that book interests you.."
Out of the blue he asks, watching you jolt your eyes unsure to meet his, only placing your fork down, on the side of the white plate.
