ITS A MESS!
The brown cover, with the registration form to enter Pinch of Yum was missing. No one was home except me, Sita and Kayla. Mom and Dad had gone to Dad's latest film premiere. Madeline- I don't know where she was, but definitely not home(who cares?). I was so doomed! And the worst part? The registration line was closing today night. Kayla knew nothing about it and mom and dad weren't home. I was so blank and had no idea what to do. Searching for it in the entire house could take, like 6 hours. But then, we had no choice.
We started from the main hall. I even asked Kayla to look for the brown cover. We got into the cupboards, all the drawers, racks, tables blah blah, but no sign of the cover. Three hours gone, and still no sign of the cover with the form. There were only two more rooms left. Either it had to be in Dad's room, the kitchen or it was officially lost. Sita hunted the kitchen, and I raided Dad's room. Kayla gave up. There, on top of the table, sat a plain brown cover, just like mine! My heart thumped with relief and I grabbed the cover. Finally! I did my happy dance. And then, when I looked inside the cover, my form wasn't there! Well, there was something- it was dad's speech for the premiere. Ok, it was all messed up. Dad must have taken my form instead of his speech by mistake! Oh god this was a disaster.
Woodlands plaza, the place where the film premiere was going on, was at least a 30Km drive from our house. It could take more than an hour. Plus, our helicopter driver was on leave today(yeah its real we have one). If by any chance dad had my form, I didn't know how to get there. And man, how was poor dad gonna give his speech? Even if we drive to Woodlands, the premiere would have gotten over by then and I won't be able to give dad his speech. We had to think of some way quickly. Dad is really particular about his speech papers.
There was a public train that could get us to Woodland in less than an hour. But it was risky-too many people and what if the paparazzi see us? Celeb kids going alone on a train? Again, no choice. Wearing big face masks, Sita and me got to the train station all by ourselves. Kayla had to go home as she had some emergency. We were on the train, and thank god, no one recognised us. Just two little girls on a train to switch papers with Cyrus Mington at the film premiere. Ha. Although there was this small boy beside me, who kept staring. After a while he silently asked me if I was Melody Mington and for my autograph. Clever lil boy didn't shout thankfully. I gave him my "autograph". Lol, it was my first autograph.
The train stopped at Woodlands and we rushed to the plaza, which was very close by. But there were so many bodyguards and cops. We could easily get in though. Just removed our masks, and they let us in. From a distance, I could see mom and dad. I so hoped he hadn't given his speech yet. I ran to them. Just then, they were calling out-" Can we please have Mr. Cyrus Mington, the superstar of the film on the stage?" I quickly switched covers with my confused and shocked Dad-mom too. He had the speech papers now. And I had the form, which I had to submit within two hours. I was running out of oxygen already.
Yours breathlessly,
Melody Auslly Mington.
