Act 11: "Testing One's Abilities.. "
The platoon had arrived in the wee hours of the morning. Six transport helos dropped them off on the eastern shore of the lake, near to the south side. 24 men in heavy duellist combat armor, carrying assault rifles and damned little else. They fanned out along the shoreline, as the sun crept slowly over the mountains. Tina sat in an improvised sling chair beneath several branches of a sturdy old oak, just south and west of the main landing force. She watched the troopers as they fanned out, telling Alex over her implant COM exactly what they were doing. Several of the troopers had scuba gear, and were preparing for a dive as several others oversaw the inflation of a small rubber boat. Alex smiled hearing about divers.
"So, should we let them board, or just stick with Plan A?" He asked Cygna.
"I think I like Plan A best Master. Besides, we'll never know how far I can teleport unless I test now and then."
"True enough. Plan A it is." He said as he worked the controls, and began lifting the ship off of the murky bottom. The 'B-Star' surfaced a few moments later, to the surprise of the platoon on the beach. Cygna aimed the four dorsal 304mm disruptors at the shoreline, as the men on the beach scrambled to find cover where there was none. Mi-Lu came onto the bridge, and traded seats with Alex, as he moved to stand behind her, gently massaging her shoulders. She sighed happily, since he had only had sex with her once since he bought her. She had asked Cygna if she had done something wrong, or had offended him in some way, and she had been told, that her Master preferred furry bed companions nowadays. So, she was happy with any attention he was willing to give her.
"Ok Mi-Lu, fire up that link to the 'Key Hole'." He commanded. She had the link up in seconds. Looking through the 'eye in the sky', Alex was gazing upon the desert sands of Egypt. A camel caravan was currently crossing this portion of the desert, and Alex smiled.
"Well, if they mind their P's and Q's, they'll dine on dates, sheep's intestines stuffed with various vegetables and goat's milk tonight." Alex said, as he flipped on the exterior view cameras. The view showed the beach, and the 24 odd man team sent to investigate their landing. After his ship had broached the surface, all of the platoon had gathered on the beach in awe of the alien craft that had just appeared before their eyes, despite the rather large disruptor cannons now trained on their position.
Several of the scuba-clad men attempted to ready some bulky surface to surface missile launcher, as Cygna looked at one monitor, then another. Closing her eyes, she concentrated, and half of the platoon disappeared, only to reappear a few meters from the camel caravan. Alex was stunned.
"Sorry Master. Let me try again." Cygna said, as Alex looked at her in shock. She had just teleported 12 men in full combat gear to the other side of the planet!
"My god..." Was all he said, as she again closed her eyes, and the rest of the platoon appeared alongside of the first half that went. They scrambled up and about, looking at the rolling sand dunes all around them, and at the caravan approaching them. Several of the tribesman saw them appear as if out of a mirage, rubbed their eyes, and gawked as even more American soldiers suddenly appeared in front of them. They leapt from their camels and wagons, and immediately knelt before the soldiers, as though dropped their by Allah himself. The soldiers, for their part, were just as stunned by their sudden change of scene, and a few had a hard time getting a grip on what just happened. Thankfully however, on either front, no one resorted to shooting.
"Holy Frackin...!" Tina said over her i-COM as first 12 then the rest of the platoon disappeared.
"Did Cygna do that?!"
"Again, I'm sorry Master. I must not have been concentrating hard enough the first time." She said, as Alex and Mi-Lu both starred at her in utter awe. Mi-Lu immediately knelt before this minor Marrokian Deity, as Alex walked over to Cygna, and gently took her into his arms. She snuggled with him, purring very loudly.
