Anywhere and everywhere. That was one of their promises, one of so many.
Sakusa was ready to make another promise with Tooru, one that solidified their anywhere and everywhere. He was so ready, in fact, that he carried it with him everywhere.
He had brought the promise with him to the airport. He brought that promise with him everywhere while he waited to hear any news of what happened to the plane and all of the people in it, most importantly his Tooru.
He brought that promise to the funeral with him. He almost loved that promise there, but he knew that he wasn't ready to let that, or his Tooru, go.
It was the promise he still carried with him to this day, the promise that weighed heavy in his blazer pocket.
It was the promise to add forever and always to their anywhere and everywhere.
It was the promise that both kept Sakusa going and tempted him to join his Tooru, it was the promise that reminded Sakusa that if there were an afterlife, Tooru would be waiting for him. He would wait for him as long as he needed to, even if Sakusa lived to be 100.
He knew this, and yet he wanted to join Tooru as soon as possible.
It was the promise Bokuto found in his pocket when he went to Sakusa's apartment to check on him.
Bokuto knew that Sakusa didn't like having people in his home without warning, but because of the lack of responses to everyone on the team for hours on end, he was immediately grateful that Oikawa had told him where the spare key was.
He brought Atsumu and Hinata with him, since the four of them were the closest, and he knocked.
It wasn't like Sakusa to sleep in anymore, that was a terrible habit that broke months ago, one that built immediately after Sakusa lost him.
Sakusa heard the knocking, so he began working in haste, he made sure that his cufflinks were on perfectly. He lived by the policy of going out in style, and this would be one stylish way to join his Tooru.
He felt the guilt gnawing at the back of his throat, he knew Tooru wouldn't want this, but it had been two years and things got harder by the day rather than easier.
And so when he stepped off of that chair, he whispered a quick "anywhere and everywhere, forever and always."
Bokuto unlocked the door, and Atsumu pulled Sakusa down within seconds after he passed out.
