Sakusa Kiyoomi remembers.

He remembers the way Atsumu held his hand in the hospital, always making sure to wash and sanitize them first even though the aversion to filth had numbed as Sakusa grew with Tooru.

He remembered Bokuto having to force Atsumu to shower at the very least. He remembered Bokuto making sure Atsumu ate, bringing him Onigiri Miya.

He remembered Hinata crying, though he tried to hide it with the cheery voice he always used.

He remembered all of this, though he saw none of it.

He remembered Bokuto telling him all about Akaashi. He remembered Hinata telling him about the Olympics, the ones that both he and Tooru should have been part of. He remembered Atsumu telling him about Osamu and Suna and Kita. He remembered Meian telling him about the team, Tomas and Inuaki telling him that coach was going to give him an earful when he got back. He remembered Barnes telling him that Atsumu and Bokuto were both off their game, that Hinata had collapsed during practice twice.

He remembered Komori telling him that he was stupid, but begging him to come back. That they could be stupid in a different way, and together.

He remembered all of this, and yet Sakusa Kiyoomi was selfish.

He didn't return to MSBY, he no longer spoke to any who visited him. He never apologized to Komori for making him hurt.

He never did any of this because Sakusa remembered that he is selfish.

He remembered that Tooru was waiting for him, wherever he was. He remembered that he was already 27, that he had lived as long as he could stand without his Tooru. He remembered that Tooru was an astrophysics student, that he would like to have been a star when he died.

He remembered that he bought a star for Tooru, so that dream could be fulfilled.

Sakusa Kiyoomi remembered everyone and everything, and that is why he decided to join his Tooru.
