Chapter 58

After a month Aberry left, something unexpected happen that turn our situation upside-down.

"Where is my dad!!!" Zoey almost shouted here inside the hospital as soon as we arrived. We both run towards the emergency room and seek her father. We just got out of the company, when we received a call from the hospital that Mr. Milendez got into a car accident.

"Open the door, I wanna see my dad!!!" Zoey kept knocking on the emergency room door, she was shaking and crying out loud. I walk towards her and gently held her arms.

"Zoey," I uttered her name, she slowly glances at me, sniffed, and wrapped her arms around my waist. "I'm s-scared," she whispers.

Huminga ako ng malalim at patuloy siyang niyakap ng buong puso, Inalalyan hanggang sa kami ay makaupo sa bench dito sa gilid ng pinto ng emergency room.

"Shhhh," I whisper as she kept sobbing so loud. Hinawakan ko ang kanyang kamay at sinubukan itong himasin hanggang sa tumigil ang matinding panginginig nito.

Nagpatuloy siya sa pagiyak hanggang sa tuluyan siyang nakatulog sa aking hita. Pinagmasdan ko ang malungkot niyang mukha at dahan-dahang pinunasan ang kanyang mga luha.

After a few minutes the door opens, agad nagising si Zoey ng marinig ang malakas na pagbukas ng pinto. She stood up and grab the doctor's hand.

Inalalayan ko siya sa pagtayo ng muntikan na itong mawalan ng balanse. "Doc, how's my dad!!! He's fine rig---," hindi niya natapos ang sasabihin ng yumuko ang doctor at hinubad ang surgical cap.

"N-no," Zoey whisper, hinawakan niya ang magkabilang balikat ng Doctor at tiningnan ito. "Don't you dare say those words, my dad is alright." She said and tried her very best to control her tears.

"I'm sorry, we tried our best to save his li----," Zoey just fainted before the doctor could finish his word.

Agad ko siyang binuhat, "Zoey!" malakas kong sambit at nagsimulang tumulo ang mga luha mula sa aking mga mata.

"She's still in a state of shock, let her rest," The doctor said and lead our way to her room.

Matapos ko siyang maihiga sa hospital bed, nanghihina akong napaupo sa tabi niya. Hinawi ang magulo kong buhok pa itaas at marahang pinunasan ang aking mukha gamit ang aking mga kamay.

I remained silent at that moment of that until the door open and a nurse came in, giving me some of Mr. Milendez's things.

Hinawakan at pinagmasdan ko ito, habang pinupunasan ang bakas ng dugo sa relo nito. I took a glance at her daughter and reach for her head.

This will be tough for her, but I'll promise to stay with her.

I'll stay with her until she needs me.

After the funeral, I know something changed. "Zoey, where are you going?" I ask her as I watch her step out of her room.

Tiningnan niya ako gamit ang malamlam niyang mga mata bago sinubukan ngumiti at sinabi, "Just gonna grab something outside" alam kong sinubukan niyang ipakita sa akin na ok siya sa pamamagitan ng mga pekeng ngiting iyon.

"Samahan na kita," Sambit ko, bago tumayo at kinuha ang aking wallet at cellphone mula sa sofa.

"No!" nagulat ako ng biglang tumaas ang kanyang boses at umiwas sa akin ng tingin. "I can do it by myself, you can just stay here," she hurriedly said and walk out of the pad.

Naiwan ako gaya ng kkanyang sinabi at nagpatuloy na palamang sa pagtratrabaho at pagaasikaso ng mga papeles ng kumpanya nila. Good thing Cad let me have leave for a week to help the Milendez Company.
