Running Away

Chapter 2: Leaving

Hiccup's POV
     I placed the Viking helmet on my head. The helmet my dad had given me. It was time to show everyone dragons aren't what we think they are. My gut told me it wasn't going to work. The gate was opened and I walked into the center of the Academy. Looking around I noticed every Viking was there. I seen Astrid in the crowd glaring daggers at me. I grabbed a small dagger and a shield nodding to Gobber. He released the lock from above and the Monstrous Nightmare stormed out. He was already on fire and he ran around the arena trying to break out. He finally noticed me and walked closer. The Nightmare wasn't on fire anymore which I was glad for.

     I dropped my dagger and shield and threw the helmet to the ground. I could hear people gasp.

     "What is he doing?" I heard Stoick say.

     "They're not who we think they are." I stuck my hand in front and the Nightmare began to calm down, trusting me.

     Stoick raised his voice, "Stop the fight!"

     "No! I need you all to see this!" My hand was getting closer to the Nightmare 's face.

     "I SAID STOP THE FIGHT!" Stoick shouted slamming his hammer on the metal bars separating the danger from everyone.

     The Monstrous Nightmare freaked out and almost took my hand off. I started running away around the arena. He blew fire and when I tripped his talons pinned me to the ground. I waited for the end to come. This was not Plan B. Suddenly, a loud SCREEEEEEEEECH was heard by everyone. An explosion sounded and the Nightmare was pulled off of me. When the smoke cleared I saw Toothless fighting off the Nightmare to protect me. The Nightmare backed off slightly and Toothless curled his tail around me snarling. My dad, Stoick, jumped in the arena with an axe headed straight for Toothless. Plan B was put into action. I jumped on Toothless and my dad stopped dead in his tracks.

     "Hiccup? What are you doing?" My dad lowered his axe and stared at me bewildered.

     I said nothing only shaking my head. I patted Toothless's head, "Let's go bud." Toothless took to the sky flying away from Berk.

     "WAIT!" Stoick yelled.

     I ignored his words and flew away leaving Berk in the dust. I sighed with relief.
