It was the first time Arasseth was allowed to accompany her father to Greenwood and the young elf was bubbling with excitement. She had never left her kingdom until now. Being the second child in her family she was not in line for the throne, her older brother Adrian was. Adrian was usually the one going on these trips to the forest kingdom but now it was her turn.
"Settle down little one" her father said as he tenderly placed a hand on her silver hair.
She looked up at her father smiling with all her being, he knelt down beside her and kissed her brow.
"Arasseth, my beloved star, this is an important trip for you. One day Adrian will be King and you will be his eyes and his ears at the court of Greenwood palace." Still smiling at him she nodded her head understanding his every word.
Picking her up, her father place her on his horse and then sat behind her. Her mother stood by the gates and waved them off as they passed through. Arasseth smiled during the entire trip, discovering new sights, hearing new sounds in the forest, meeting new elven folk in the surrounding villages.
At the end of the second day they had finally arrived in greenwood. They were greeted at the gates by guards, when they recognized her father they bowed their heads in respect and let them through ,all glancing at the smiling girl riding with him. An elf took their horse to the stables and the King took hold of his daughters hand making his way into the thick tress. Arasseth looked up at a man who stood at the top of a flight of stairs, he was a very handsome man with silver hair and a smile spread across his thin lips. He spread his arms open in a sing of welcome.
"What took you so long my dear friend?" King Oropher stated still smiling and embracing father when we reached him.
"And who might this beautiful young elleth be?" Oropher said as he smiled down at Arasseth after the embrace.
Father chuckled lightly and placed his hand on her head once again. "It is good to see you King Oropher, this is my beloved star Arasseth, Adrian's younger sister." The King raised his eyebrow bending down and taking her hand to kiss her knuckles. Arasseth curtsied the King and replied with a polite hello.
They entered the palace and Arasseth looked around the large open area trying to absorb every little thing she could while her father and the King of greenwood chatted along. Little did she know she was being watched by the young prince, not a lot of children were present in the kingdom.
Arasseth explored the gardens and halls while her father worked with Oropher. That evening they had a small dinner between the two adults, herself and an empty chair.
"Ada? Why is there an empty chair?" She asked while tugging lightly on his sleeve.
"For the prince my star." As he finished his sentence the doors opened and in he walked, the young Thranduil. He was about her age and looked a lot like his father, his silver hair braided back and his facial expression was serious but he still had a small twinkle of childish youth in his eyes. They bowed their heads to him as he took his seat and the children stole glances from each other for almost the entire meal.
"Ada can me and the elleth go to the gardens?" Thranduil asked, Arasseth was slightly shocked that he was so straight forward but she smiled anyways ,wanting to go play with another child.
With a nod the King excused them and off they went, running through the halls until they reached the beautiful gardens of greenwood. For the next hour the two children played warrior games, pretending to ride horses and slay dragons. Slowly the prince's stern look lifted from his face and was replaced with laughter.
The two kings came to collect their young when their second meeting came to an end and it was time for her to leave greenwood and go back home. Thranduil and Oropher saw them off at the gates, both the children asking their fathers if they could play again, and both of them agreed with tender smiles.
Since that day she returned with her father every three months to Greenwood. The prince and Arasseth played together for many years but slowly grew out of it as the years passed, both having more duties and starting to learn how to be part of a royal court. They would smile tenderly at each other every time they met, dine together, sit in the gardens and talk a lot. With time they became good friends.

Arasseth now traveled to Greenwood alone, no longer in training or needing her fathers help. She was a good warrior and needed no protection. Her favourite weapon was the longbow and she carried it almost everywhere she went. Once arrived at the palace she gracefully dismounted her horse and strode up the stairs and the doors opened for her. She made her way to the throne room, a few elves bowing their heads at her and she smiled in return.
She saw the silver haired prince and she called his name, he turned around and smiled at her tenderly, their silver orbs meeting, he stopped walking waiting for her to get closer. She bowed her head to him, he returned the gestured and took her hand kissing it with a smile on his lips. His lips lingered on her hand a little longer than usual. She looked down at him and raised an eyebrow, it was odd for the prince to elongate his kiss on her had or to even make physical contact with someone. He looked up at her and she erased her expression replacing it with a smile.
"Thranduil how have you been ?" She said as they walked side by side towards the throne room where she would find King Oropher.
"I have been well, but busy with the upcoming troubles. There are a lot of dark whispers in the wind"
She nodded in agreement, her family had felt it too and it was the reason why she had rode to greenwood a month early. They entered the throne room together and Oropher greeted the pair but he looked tired.
"We must start the council at once, Thranduil and lady Arasseth follow me." They both glanced at each other with a worried expression and they all moved quickly to discuss the events.
That evening she left Greenwood in a hurry to tell her father the news and to prepare everything.
The elven kingdoms were at war.------------------------------------
