I glanced over to where the council had been since the start of the coronation. They had begun to murmur admits themselves. I gave a questioning look as I knew it was regarding me in some way shape or form.
"I just wanted to inform you that you have a council meeting directly after this".
Gwen spoke but I barely comprehended a word she said. The room began to lessen as things went on. The council left walking out cautiously to the meeting room, my eyes followed locking on to them as they left.
"Are you listening to me"?
Gwen's voice disrupted me and as my eyes averted from the council moving directly back to her. "Yeah" I said, still distracted.
"Right then, now get going".
She turned around and walked out of the grand hall. I spun on my heel moving towards the room next door. I pushed open the door entering immediately disturbing the conversation. They straightened as I turned my head to face them.
"Your majesty, an honor"
I breathed, preventing myself from eye rolling. "You wished to speak to me".
"Yes, we realize that you wish to rule the kingdom in a different way. But you must understand we still have the final say".
I bit down on my lip to prevent me from speaking out to the extent that I pleased. "Yes I will be ruling differently to better help our people thrive. And I have as much and even more say than you do". I stated clearing it up for them where I stood but they continued on not dropping it.
"We believe joining the empire will help our kingdom thrive and be protected".
My eyes widened in shock and disbelief in what I just heard slip out of their mouths. The empire, now that was a sick idea and something I would never submit our kingdom to. "Empire no, they will bring pain and death wherever they go and it follows reacting havoc". That sent glares that replied with sending a wave of nausea climbing up my back. One of the council members spoke up.
"Those are some strong accusations for some ones whose parents were apart of the senate".
I sneered at his comment automatically expressing my discontent. I then fired back rebottling them "I will stick to my parents beliefs. I will not and can't scum to the rule of the empire. We will continue to be neutral and not join". There! I felt proud telling them off. I turned ready to leave the room and the entirety of the conversation but as soon as I did another council member cleared their throat.
"You know, your majesty, that you should not openly accuse the empire, you do not have as much power as you think you do. And choosing the empire will not be your decision in the end".
Once he finished he sat back down almost satisfied in his remark. Which in return fulled me into a state of astonishment and anger. "How dare you! Are you threatening me"? I raised my eyebrows questioning is right to state things like that.
"No, just pointing out the facts".
And with that I walked out of the room. I glared back at them before shutting the door leaving them to question my authority. They could try to drown my voice out all they wanted but I would not be silenced. I continued to walk down back to my quarters as the silence lingered on but my footsteps echoed.

Authors note: This chapter has a little brief foreshadowing in it and introduces the royal council into the book. Hope you are enjoying it and much as I did writing it. The song Speechless from Aladdin goes with this chapter.
