Akaashi X Reader Birthday Oneshot

Hey all, this is either coming out the day of, the day before, or the day after his birthday. Depends on when it was finished. Btw I'm using the wiki for the birth dates, so that's the days I'm using. His birthday is the 5th of December.

Akaashi woke up to his alarm, grumbling about how it was to early to have to get up, but when he looked at the clock, he noticed he slept through almost every alarm except his last one, which was at 10am. He never slept in past 7am. He looked at the day and sighed, another lonely birthday, he was used to it, but it still was kind of depressing. Ever since he was a kid his birthday was always just ignored by most everyone, his parents would take him to a store to pick out a few things, then take him to get food and ice cream afterwards, and that was all. He was always quiet and never really had friends growing up so there was no point in parties or making a big deal out of it. His birthday quickly became just another day, he didn't mind, mostly because that's all he knew. But when he joined the volleyball team in high school that changed a bit, the team always remembered his birthday, and Bokuto always made it a point to make a big deal out of it, mostly by throwing parties where he'd invite other volleyball teams, since they were all friends anyways. He wasn't mad about the owl's decision of the parties, since, if Bokuto didn't hold the party Akaashi's first year of high school, Akaashi would've never met Y/n. Due to the both of them being extremely shy, they naturally gravitated towards each other, over the course of the party they got to know each other, and by the end of the party, they had exchanged phone numbers, and had set up a time to hang out the next weekend. And thus began a beautiful friendship between the two of them.  8 years later and their friendship was still going strong, he was turning 24 this year, but to be honest,  even if Bokuto threw a party for him, he wouldn't be happy at all, seeing as she wouldn't be there. She was on tour with both her modeling career and her professional volleyball career, she had been apologizing for the past month because she couldn't make it back. He had assured her that it was alright, that he just wanted her to focus on what she was doing at the time, she swore she'd make it up to him, and even though he said that it wasn't necessary, he secretly couldn't wait. Over the years, Akaashi had developed a rather large crush on Y/n, but sadly his anxiety was too much for him to handle with it, making him completely unable to talk to her about it. To be honest, he didn't even know when he fell for her, all he knew is one day, during their platonic best friend cuddle session and movies, he was extremely distracted by her, not in a bad way, but he couldn't take his eyes off of her face, seeing the beauty it held, it made his heart race. Akaashi went about his morning routine as he normally would, not caring that it was his birthday, it was just another day. He got ready for his one college class that he had, (I haven't read the manga so I don't know what Akaashi does after high school sorry), he went to class, and by the end of it he was ready for bed again, the physics class he was taking took a lot out of him. He was walking back to his apartment when he heard his name being shouted, "HEY HEY HEYYYYYYYY AKAASHIIIIIIIII!!!!!" Bokuto's voice rang out, garnering everyone's attention. Akaashi sighed as he turned to face the loud, hyper, owl haired man, "What is it Bokuto-san?" He asked quietly. Bokuto grabbed Akaashi and started dragging him in the direction of the campus bar, Akaashi protesting the whole way. But in the end, he just couldn't say no to his friend, so he agreed to a couple drinks.

Kuroo's POV

I walked into Akaashi's apartment, Lev and Daichi followed, dragging in a large box, it was about 4 feet tall, and 4 feet wide, and really heavy. Lev tripped on the single step at the entrance to the apartment, dropping his end of the box, we all froze, feeling like the box would explode at any second. When we all had calmed down, we carried the box into Akaashi's bedroom, then, we texted the rest of the group to come in and decorate the place for the surprise party.
