Believe It or Not

It was a seemingly typical afternoon at Canterlot High. The sun was shining as bright as ever, rays striking the beautiful exterior of the school as the students went about their day.

In the courtyard, some of them were gathered in small groups, chatting and laughing, while others simply enjoyed the sunny day, relaxing near the Wondercolt statue, waiting for the next bell to ring in peace and quiet.

*WHOOSH!*

Suddenly, a pink blur shot out from the school building like a cannonball, causing several students to leap aside to avoid being bowled over. The blur zoomed straight into the statue's base...

*GONG!!!*

"Ugh..." The blur, now identifiable as Pinkie Pie, slid to the ground in a daze, rubbing her head. "Oh, bummer..." she muttered.

"Again, Pinkie?"  A voice called from behind her, making her to look up to see the worried and slightly annoyed looks of her five friends.

"This is the fifth time this week you've tried going through the portal!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed, throwing her hands up.

"I really thought I'd make it this time." Pinkie replied with a pout as Sunset Shimmer offered her a hand and helped her to her feet.

"You do realize I'd tell you if Twilight opened the portal, right?" The flame haired girl asked.

"I know, I know." Pinkie sighed, brushing off her clothes. "It's just... come on, girls! We can visit a whole world full of magic! Magic ponies, magic castles, *GASP!* maybe even magic cupcakes!"

Sunset chuckled. "Cupcakes are still cupcakes, Pinkie. Magic or not."

"Besides..." Applejack added. "It ain't like we can just open that portal whenever we want. Princess Twilight's the one with the key."

"Aww! Why couldn't she leave it open?" Pinkie asked, disappointed.

"Darling, you know how risky that would be." Rarity answered. "Leaving the portal open could lead to all sorts of... complications."

"Someone could fall through." Fluttershy murmured nervously, her eyes darting to the statue. "...or something from that side might come out..."

"Exactly." Sunset said firmly. "Even though the portal's safe in Twilight's castle, we can't risk leaving it open. And let's not forget' we don't know if the sirens were the only thing to cross over."

The girls looked uncertain at that. Pinkie, on the other hand, looked sadder than ever.

"I just really, really want to see Twilight on the other side!" She said, eyeing the statue where the portal was.

Applejack placed a comforting hand on Pinkie's shoulder. "We all do, sugarcube. But we can't do anything without Twilight's permission."

Pinkie's head drooped, but Rarity quickly stepped in with a reassuring smile. "Now, now, no need for long faces! That doesn't mean we'll never visit her. We just need to ask her next time the portal's available!"

This seems to spring the pink girl back to life.

"You're right!" Pinkie exclaimed with a smile. "We can ask her through Sunset's diary! Why wait? Let's write to Twilight and plan a trip right now!"

The rest of the girls pondered the idea, their smiles growing wider. However, Sunset's face grew nervous.

"W-Well, yeah, we could do that..." Sunset began cautiously, trying to stay calm. "But remember, Pinkie, Twilight's a princess now. She's got royal duties, responsibilities... It wouldn't be right to bother her over something like this."
