I slowly approach the very familiar entrance of my very own high school, every memory flooding back at once from my freshman year to now. Well I'm super happy to be back if you define happiness as a dread so deep Adele could roll in it. There's enough drama at this school that it would take one million cheesy novels just to write it all down.
Marcy walks along beside me to my left and Alec to my right. Marcy has done nothing but groan from the hangover she has from yesterday. She really drank a lot, and thankfully she doesn't do this often. She rubs her temples and mumbles all kinds of swear words under her breath.
I let out a whistle and she instinctively slaps me on the shoulder while groaning with even more pain. Alec chuckles beside me not even trying to hold it in as I laugh along with him.
"I hate both of you and everyone. Next person to whistle is going to be more than slapped on the shoulder," she says with anger.
"Well I do recall warning you about your friend alcohol. I told you that he wasn't friendly, but you ignored me," I say with a grin.
She just rolls her eyes as we make our way into the school building. Alec speaks up next to me. "So you actually went to that party Rosie? I can't believe what I'm hearing. I wish I could've seen it, but I was stuck babysitting my bratty twin sisters."
I laugh. "Trust me, there was nothing to miss. All I did was end up in the backyard like always."
"But I did see you talking to a..." Marcy pauses for dramatic effect. "Boy!" She states louder than I anticipated for the hungover girl.
People even look our way and I look to the ground, my face heating up a little. "Can you please not make me red as a tomato before first period? And-"
"Wait a minute, you were talking to a guy? Nope, I don't believe that either. The way you were around me with Marcy around when we first met; there's no way you talked to a guy by yourself," Alec comments in shock.
"Thanks guys, I'm glad you have so much confidence in me," I say playfully while rolling my eyes. "And yes I talked to a guy. Two actually. One of them was from work actually. His name is Mason."
"Oh I know Mason! Good guy, but kind of quiet. He'd be perfect for you," Marcy says with her match maker instincts kicking in.
"Well before you go hooking me up with someone, just know we hardly went past our names and a hello. I did talk to another guy though..." I trail off thinking back to last night. I made a deal with a complete jerk and I still don't know why.
"She's trailing off, this is the guy she liked more," Alec says with a teasing grin.
"Stop it! We talked and that was it. We made a deal..." I say the last part under my breath.
"What?" They both ask in shock probably wondering what deal I made with a guy I met at a party.
"I never thought my innocent Rosie would get past hello with a guy. You got far enough to make a deal?" Marcy says with a grin.
I groan as I see my locker up ahead. "Don't you two have lockers to get to and classes to be? I'll see you both at orchestra, lunch, and at work later," I tell them facing my locker and turning the dial to place my combination into it.
"Well whoever this guy is, I want the whole story. I still plan on taking you shopping Friday!" Marcy exclaims before walking away. Alec follows behind her. I hear a whistle and a loud smack. I can't help the light laugh that escapes my lips.
I open up my locker as people buzz around me having their usual first day of school conversations like what they did and who they met. Everyone sounds so interesting- and then there's me. All the gossip and stories that move around the school faster than lightning strikes never cross my path. While everyone is having fun and making memories, I'm at home and learning new songs on the guitar.
