"Please tell me that you don't plan on wearing a band tee shirt. I helped pick out that new clothes for a reason and I'd hate myself if you wore an old band tee shirt on your date," Marcy states while sitting on the edge of my bed.
I stare at the row of clothes hanging in my closest. Each band shirt is calling my name, but I need an outfit for this party.
"Marcy, this is not a date. He just wanted to cheer me up and I wasn't going to go until someone decided to accept for me." I turn to Marcy with a raised eyebrow.
"Well I don't think you need any more cheering up after hanging out with Jasper." She wiggles her eyebrows at me.
That day alone we had hung out for hours just talking and learning useless information about each other. We had even talked on the phone that same night. Some how, we never run out of things to talk about. We've been talking before and after school and I finally got to give him some guitar lessons. He was learning pretty quickly. I've been trying to avoid going to my house with him mainly because I'm afraid of who might be home.
My dad hasn't come back or tried to contact us in anyway and all I can think is good riddance. I despise him more than I ever have. My mom won't even come out of her room unless she needs to. No matter what I suggest, she remains locked away from the world like her bedroom is paradise. I'm getting extremely worried.
I cross my arms over my chest. "Jasper is just my friend! We've only known each other for a month anyway! I don't know how we would already be dating."
Marcy rolls her eyes. "These kinds of things don't have to have a time limit! If you want to date him, date him! You have to be more optimistic with yourself. I swear one if these days you'll thank me for nagging you about this guy."
I groan and turn back to my closet. "I still can't figure out if you want me with Mason or Jasper."
"Well Mason is really, really sweet and definitely has an adorable crush on you, but you always seem to instantly light up at the mention of Jasper. I've heard how sarcastic the guy can be and you still have opened up to him! I don't know any other person who has done that Rosie."
I can't help but think about what I would do without Jasper at the moment. He's become pretty popular since he's on the football team and practices start next week. What if he makes all new friends and just forgets about me? He wouldn't do that though, right?
"He's a really nice guy, Marcy. A sarcastic guy who struggles to give me a nickname." A smile comes to my face as I mention the nickname.
I pull out the dress that I had bought with Marcy which consists of a plain black color with ruching along the top and a thick fabric belt that wraps around the stomach. It's strapless and comes half way between my butt and my knee which I thought was a bit too short, but Marcy insisted it was perfect and I had to buy it.
"He wants to give you a nickname? Holy crap this is too adorable, I might start crying." I turn to Marcy who is pretending to fan away tears and I hold up the dress.
"This one ok?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
She smiles in approval. "It's perfect! Now quickly change so I can do your makeup! One of these days you're going to have to learn to do it on your own!" Marcy scolds as she shoos me to my bathroom. I close the door and begin to change.
"Makeup is annoying anyway. I'd rather not wear it but you always insist." I yank off the black tee shirt I had on along with my skinny jeans and I begin to pull on the dress.
"Look Rosie, you've gotta admit my smokey eye on you will make any boy come begging."
"Marcy, there aren't boys that would come begging for me even if I was the queen."
