I know last chapter things got a little tense between my babies but I swear that it will get better. In this chapter maybe but I guess you're going to have to read it to find out!

Thank you all for reading this story by the way, I hope you're enjoying it, as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I run home tears falling down my face, how could he say that to me?! How dare he?!

"Best friends as if! We haven't been best friends for years," I sob.

"IF THINGS WERE SO BAD WHY DIDNT YOU JUST TELL ME?!!" I flinch as I remember how his face was scrunched up in anger, tears coursing down his face, his eyes lit with concern and anger. Not once did I think he was ugly, he was beautiful, even when angered.

I didn't tell him because he didn't need that, he didn't need my burden on his shoulders. Especially after Abony. That was one of the things that hit me hard. Abony decided to run away, she wanted freedom sooner than later. That was one of the things you loved and hated about her, she was never patient. I begged her not to go.

"Abony please don't go! You don't have that long, just stay!" Abony who was a whole two years older than me, my best friend looked me in the eyes, for an eleven year old her  brown eyes were too aware, too full of pain, but I didn't realize it until later on.

"Eloise when you get older you might understand, though I hope you don't," she whispered, tears entered my eyes. Everything was going so well, Papa has gotten better and has an easier job, I'm earning extra money, I got to work along with my best friend and Mama, but now my best friend is leaving and I promised not to tell anybody.

"You're only a whole two years older than me, I can understand anything you can!" She chuckled.

"Of course you can, but Eloise my parents, they... remember what I told you?"

"Yes you said they died honorably," I replied, my face scrunched in confusion.

"Yes they died so that we may be free," Abony said and I gasped as I realized what she meant.

"Your parents they were..."

"Runaways, yes and they were so close but then it got taken away from them, I was there Eloise," I watched as tears entered her eyes but not once did she let them fall. I put my hand on top of hers.

"I understand," I softly whispered.

"I have to be free, their last words were, 'Abony you were born to freedom, don't let anybody take that away from you,' and I promised I wouldn't."

"Be safe then, please?" I asked and she nodded her head. "I'll see you off tonight," I informed her and she smiled.

"I'd like that," was her reply. Later that night I snuck out. Her with a couple of others were there, their stuff packed, ready to leave. I ran up to her and gave her a big hug.

"You better write back to me! When you make it!"

"I will promise," she chuckled and in the moonlight she looked so natural, that smile and her eyes, how they lit up with giddiness, with satisfaction. Never had I seen her basked in such beauty.

"Goodbye Abony," I whispered and I kissed her cheek.

"Goodbye Eloise," she whispered back and returned my kiss. If I knew what would've happened I would've begged her to stay, I would've told someone, but I didn't know then what I know now. That was the last time I would ever see my best friend. Two months passed and I still haven't heard from her but I didn't worry, that was until at least three of the ones who ran with her were returned in handcuffs. Once they were returned to the plantation, I asked my mom's closest friend, Maine.
