Song: Feeling good
By: Nina Simone

The day has come! All our stuff is packed and it's in the back of the wagon. I'm jumping up and down on the balls of my feet. Today is the start of something new.
"Are you sure you're going to be ok? Do you need any more snacks? Do you have enough?!" Hazel exclaims.
"Mother I'll be fine, stop fussing," Elijah says.
"She's just looking out for you," James says and I laugh.
"You better visit and write!" Hazel exclaims.
"We will, promise," I reply.
"You better or I'll hunt you down myself," Isaiah says and I hug him.
"A surprise visit would be nice," I joke and he playfully nudges my side and I nudge him back.
"Come on! We have a long trip ahead of us and I would like to leave as early as possible!" Mama says as her and Papa walk up to us.
"Bye Eloise, it was a pleasure getting to know you. I'm glad you were the one to capture my son's heart," Hazel says and the two of us are crying.
"Bye Hazel. Thank you for treating me well and accepting me in your family. I practically feel like your own daughter. You taught me so much." I say to her. We hug and then I go on to James.
"Bye Eloise. I'm glad to see that you have transformed and grown to be an excellent young woman. My son is lucky to have you," he says and I hug him.
"Thank you so much James! You have taught me so much as well. I'll be sure to apply the lessons I've learned from you, for as long as I can. I'm glad you are a part of my journey." I murmur and he smiles down at me.
"Take care," he whispers and I nod. Knowing I'll burst into even more tears if I look into those tear filled eyes any longer. Last was Isaiah. He immediately pulls me into a hug.
"I'm going to miss these, and your cheesy jokes," I sniffle.
"I'll be with you soon enough. Don't miss me too much," he sniffles as well.
"But a wise man once said to me sometimes life calls for you and you can't help but follow and take delight in what it has to offer, go Eloise, answer your call and don't waste a second. I'll know if you do," he whispers. I cry and pull him into another hug.
"Thank you Isaiah. You have brought the light out of me, you helped me escape the darkness. For that I am grateful. For I'm not your angel, you are mine." I whisper and the tears flow out of his eyes and spill onto his cheeks. I wipe them away.
"Goodbye Eloise."
"Goodbye Isaiah." After that I turn and see that everyone is waiting for me in the wagon. I wave goodbye to everyone and get in.
"Off to new beginnings," Papa says and whips the horse to get it going. We get further and further away from what I once knew as my home. Memories happy and sad play through my head. I close my eyes and my ears perk up and I listen to the song of Baltimore, for maybe this will be the last time my ears will grace upon its wonderful tune.
"Ready for a new beginning?" Elijah asks while squeezing my hand. I look up at him and smile, nodding.
"Yes," I whisper. The song of Baltimore may be leaving my ears but as it goes a new song enters. A song that promises happiness. Promises a life filled with recklessness but freedom. A song that calls for you to take delight in what it has to offer.
The song of life.
I encourage you to listen!
