"Do you know why you've been called in today?"

"Sorry sir" Midoriya chuckled awkwardly "This is my fault..." The man on the other side of the desk raised an unbelieving eyebrow

"Really Midoriya?" He questioned suspiciously "How so?"

"Well" he began nervously "I was sitting in my seat and Tedo started messing with me. I tried to get him to stop, but then he threatened to use his quirk on me and that's when Kacchan stepped in" he gestured to the boy covered in bruises sitting next to him, arms crossed and refusing to make eye contact with the other two people in the room "He was simply defending me! Surely you're not getting him in trouble over protecting a quirkless classmate?!" He began to tear up a bit "I'm terribly sorry about it- it's just... people always pick on me and Kacchan is the only one who helps me in those fights!" He gave a little sniffle and hurriedly wiped away his eyes "Please don't get him in trouble over something that's my fault."

"Ah" the principal sputtered, starting to look nervous "No no! It's fine Midoriya-kun. It's just that some of the other students I talked to before said that Bakugo-kun here was the one who instigated the fight" The blonde flinched a bit at that information, sinking a bit more into his seat as Midoriya shot him a side glance

"Well that's ridiculous!" Izuku stammered "Tedo was the one who started it. Isn't that right Kacchan?" Bakugo shrugged, unconcerned as he examined the blood still stuck under his fingernails

"The little bastard wouldn't shut his mouth so I shut him up myself." He spat, grinning viciously as Izuku stiffened next to him "If anything I did that ungrateful class a favor-"

What he means " Midoriya interrupted with a strained smile, grinding his heel into Katsuki's toes from under the table to shut him up "Is that Tedo was disrupting the class when he was messing with me and it could've quickly escalated into something more dangerous for me had he not intervened." He smiled sweetly at the skeptical man "And really what's the big issue? He stopped before it went too far and didn't even use his quirk. " Izuku looked up innocently "Are you saying he shouldn't have helped his quirkless friend ?" The man turned red

"No not at all!" He exclaimed, looking around anxiously

"So we're done here." Midoriya nodded, getting up and pushing his chair in, Bakugo also standing and slinking towards the door "Thank you for understanding sir. I'm sure this...small issue won't go on our records right?"

"Yes yes of course." The principal mumbled, slumping defeatedly in his seat "Just...try not to let it happen again. Okay boys?"

"We'll try our best sir!" Izuku reassured, looking over at the blonde "Right Kacchan?" Bakugo glared at him " Right . Kacchan ?" He repeated almost in a growl, smile slipping for a split second

"Yeah." Katsuki muttered, looking away from the other boy and slipping through the door "Sure, whatever." Izuku gave an exasperated sigh, following him into the hall.

"Honestly Kacchan" Midoriya whined "You need to stick to the story! Our excuse only works if we're on the same page-" Katsuki whipped around and immediately punched the boy in the face with a sneer

"I don't need your bullshit excuses Deku ." He snarled, shoving his hands in his pockets and stomping around the corner "I can take care of myself just fine- oof!" Izuku slammed the blonde into the wall, hefting the boy up by his uniform collar, all traces of mirth gone from his previously cheery face

"Just who the hell do you think you are Katsuki?" Midoriya growled, pinning him a little tighter to the wall and Katsuki scrabbling to gain traction on the ground to keep himself from being strangled "We have a fucking deal. You can do whatever you want as long as you go along with whatever bullshit I come up with to get you out of trouble" he slammed the boy again against the wall, Bakugo going still as to avoid pissing him off further "Do you understand asshole?" He got up on his tip toes to stare the teen down "I say you didn't do it, you say you weren't even there. I say you were attacked first, you sit there and nod your pretty little head along with me. I say you jumped?" He pinned Bakugo's uniform collar to the wall, hands dangerously close and brushing warningly against the black metal band around the blonde's neck "You tell them how fucking high."

"Screw you." Katsuki hissed, tilting his chin up to sneer and pull his neck away from Izuku's hands. Midoriya was not amused, slamming Bakugo once more against the wall as a warning, the blonde wincing in pain when the back of his head thudded against the brick

"I am the only reason you're still at this shitty school." He spat "You think anybody here would give a single flying fuck if you disappeared?? They wouldn't even bat an eyelash if you got expelled, hell they'd probably celebrate . Nobody cares about what happens to you Kacchan ." Katsuki was silent, head dipped and eyes not meeting Izuku's verdant glare "If you step out of line one more time Bakugo Katsuki, I. Will. Let. You. Burn . Do I make myself clear?" He got no response and slapped the blonde hard in annoyance "I said do I make myself clear?!" Bakugo looked up, crimson eyes blazing as equally hot hands clamped around Izuku's wrists still holding him against the wall.

"Crystal." Katsuki snarled, squeezing his hands tighter and burning through Izuku's sleeves. Midoriya hissed in pain but held on just a little longer before finally dropping the other. The two glared at each other, Bakugo brushing off his uniform and fixing his collar as Izuku rubbed his singed wrists. "Don't ever fucking put your hands on me again at school Deku. " He ordered, shoving his shoulder against Midoriya's roughly as he headed down the hall. Midoriya gave an annoyed growl, glancing around to make sure no one had seen the two "best friends" before following after Katsuki

"I wish you'd die." Izuku muttered beside him, smiling sweetly as their "friends" approached them in the hall with waves

"Feeling's mutual." Katsuki retorted, waving back at the boys slightly. The two continued down to the cafeteria, laughing and joking with their group as they walked

No one (pointed out) noticed the poison in their smiles.
