Chapter 33: Use Your Voice and Make Everyone Remember You

The first day at the training center passed by pleasantly. Lisa did not stay after training ended at 4:30. Instead, she retrieved her things and left the premises.

By the time Jungkook returned home from work, Lisa had already finished cooking a table full of dishes and was waiting to eat together with him.

Jungkook raised his eyebrows, took off his suit jacket, and hung it next to the door.
Then, he asked, “Why are you suddenly so hardworking? What time did you get back?”

“I came home as soon as I was done with training.”

Jungkook walked over to the table, looked down at her, “Great… slacking off again.”

Lisa responded to his remark by rolling her eyes. She asked, “Are you blaming me for coming home to cook for you?”

Jungkook thought this was somewhat laughable and asked, “Who asked you to cook for me?”

“You paid for my training,” Lisa pointed at the table full of food. “If I don’t do something to repay you, I won’t be able to keep a clear conscience. I just bought all of the ingredients from the supermarket with my own money.”

As Jungkook moved the corners of his mouth to speak, Lisa interrupted him and said, “Don’t you dare say that I can repay you with my body; I will call the police.”

Jungkook bent over in laughter for a moment. After walking to the kitchen to wash his hands, he returned to his seat at the dining table, picked up his bowl and chopsticks, and began to eat.

As he ate, he felt that Lisa’s cooking technique was not nearly as good as his own, but to him it was very delicious. He figured that this was probably a sickness, but he didn’t want to cure it.

Each of the dishes on the table had been personally tasted by Lisa so she was confident in how they tasted. However, she couldn’t help but wonder, how much money would she owe Jungkook in the end when they eventually divorce?

However, there was no need to worry. If her album became a big seller, the tables would turn and she would become a wealthy woman capable of providing for him. This kind of potential future made her blood race with anticipation. She took two bites of rice before glancing up at Jungkook and saying, “I heard a coworker from the company say that you are very busy at the company and frequently work overtime late into the night.”

“En,” Jungkook casually confirmed.

“Oh.” Lisa ate another bite of rice before glancing over at him again, “But why do I feel like you always come home at a normal time?”

Jungkook’s chopstick movements stopped midair. Before he had a chance to recover, she pursued, “Especially throughout the competition, you wouldn’t have purposely rushed through your work to come home to cook for me, right?”

After she said that, Jungkook’s complexion changed again. As Lisa calmly continued staring at him.  Jungkook placed some shredded meat in his bowl.

He cleared his throat and replied, “Things are not the same as the past. Now that I have a wife, how could I leave her all by herself at home?”

Lisa, “…”

She had underestimated his shamelessness. This round was her loss.

After being verbally taken advantage of, she ladled two big spoonfuls of mapo tofu into her bowl. Lowering her head, she directed all her efforts into eating her dinner.

Jungkook was very satisfied with this result. Smiling, he raised his chopsticks to get more shredded meat and slowly spoke “Besides, my job is flexible. If there is work that cannot be finished at the office, I can always bring it back to work from home.”
