So I wrote this chapter as chapter 2 at first, but then it didn't make any sense and was jaring so I moved some things around and wrote chapters 2 and 4 then I noticed this is probably as dark as it's getting for a bit since currently I'm writing something hella dark and angsty, all of the darkness from my soul it's going over there so it feels jaring when I reread this chapter alongside the others, since this one chapter is in the mid set of the other fic.

It had been a little over a month since the sweet singing song bird moved in and they couldn't, he couldn't be happier. Roman was in bed on the weekend sleeping in from his exhausting job though he never specified what exactly was except it was much too low paying and he was 'only doing it so he could use the majority of his time pursuing acting'. Even though Pat was curious about the work Roman did he'd never really pressed the matter too much, respecting Roman's privacy and saying that he needed to see his next show.
In the early morning Patton was always found skipping through the halls of the apartment humming a tune that was slightly off key while he was doing the daily morning dusting. Roman had told him many times that he didn't need to do it and the apartment wouldn't soil over a weekend without a thorough cleaning however patton would alway simply smile and say he did it 'cause he's bored a lot and less because of the cleaning aspect however Roman never truly bought it suggesting finding a much more creative hobby. And in truth it wasn't fully true he had always cleaned when he got nervous which was becoming more and more often ever since all his old roommate had a talk with Roman which freaked him out.
But even before that a few months prior he was worried sick if he'd be on the street. If he didn't manage his money properly for only one night and starve. Patton was so grateful for Roman's arrival and for not choosing one of the many other apartments in the many other apartment buildings in the surrounding area.
The place was big, but disorganised and even with five bedrooms some were petit that some could almost consider it a broom closet. The floorboards creaked, the electricity would randomly cut out at times, the neighbour upstairs would always be playing the TV five times as loud as a normal person would need since she had old age hearing problems and she lost her hearing aid when they were playing twister well she wasn't, but still, there was also a random hole in a wall next to the fridge from the tenants that came before him. Yet the light fragrance of vanilla in the air, the view from the rooms on the left side of the apartment where roman and Pat were situated always had the best view of the sunset not to mention that the neighbor upstairs would always be ready to have baking competitions with him and feed them afterwards.

"Gosh thank god Roman had came along or else I probably would of died from loneliness and starvation'" he said quietly with a giggle opening the window by the reading nook at the end of the hall grabbing a nearby blacket and exiting through, then placing the sign to tell Roman to not lock the window again since the last time he got stuck outside on the roof overnight. Since he didn't know how to push down the stairs or get down from the second story of the building in any other way he was stuck on the roof till dawn waiting to ask one of their neighbors to let him in since when he went up it was late and everyone was in bed.
Climbing up the stairs he felt the breeze on his neck while a chill went down his spine.

"When was the last time I needed to remind someone so I wouldn't be locked out of the apartment?" Before Roman came it had been months since anyone else had really been in the apartment. Since they all moved out and since his friends were on a month long trip to Europe and not even a month ago the more prominent problem was to make sure no one comes in through the window from the stairs even though there never was anyone.
'No one.' A smile formed on patton's face as tears streamed down his face, collapsing in the glow of the sunrise, laughing and sobbing at the same time he was so thankful for Roman coming along so he wouldn't be lonely anymore, he didn't need to feel this way all the time he had a reason to keep saying to hold on just a bit longer and someone will come and finally someone did.
Looking down his hands were shaky. Squeezing his sides from under the blanket. He looked up at the sunrise; the pinks, purples, oranges, yellows and blues always had a calming effect on him in the mornings. A gust of wind came by nearly stealing away the blanket, it was freezing even though it wasn't even really autumn there, but in the early morning on a windy day he guessed it was to be expected.
His stomach rumbled with excitement and hunger of course with the prospects of having enough money for a full meal. Ever since Roman had moved in he didn't need to put most of his food and saving money into renting all four extra rooms and a week ago Roman started chipping even a bit more too.
A few minutes later, sniffling, he wiped his redend eyes and headed back down the stairs to start preparing breakfast for the two. About a week back he had made a deal with Roman to only make full meals for the two of them only if he truly wanted to and only on weekends when they weren't busy so they could enjoy the meal and since today fit all the requirements he stated to prepare the pancake batter and the topping too. About half an hour later Roman awoke, but before Patton could say a word he headed straight into the bathroom for 15 minute like alway emerging with fully quaffed hair and all camera ready.

"Tada!" They say unanimously with a little giggle at the end from Pat presenting the pancake, hot coco, eggs and grapefruit.

"Wow Pat you're an amazing, but grapefruit?" Roman gasps looking at the feast that lies before him. And Patton just struggled with a smile.

"But you need to stop doing this for me. It's expensive!" Ever since he found out about Patton's situation they started to pay fifty-fifty which left Roman a bit more broke than usual. So ever since Patton had been providing more meals than just together meals. Even when Roman pressed for Patton to stop when Patton found out that he wasn't eating properly then he started back up again.

"But you're paying more now and I now have a fair bit of extra money from my second job so is it so bad to put it into keeping us eating happy and healthy?" Patton questioned.

"Yes, however what I'm paying now is what I should have been paying from the beginning and you feed me like a king when I do practically nothing for you."

"Roman you do loads for me you do the laundry and help with the groceries and you cook sometimes too not to mention you fixed the light fixtures and electricity problems in this place so you do loads. You're the best friend slash roomie ever!!!" Patton says with a smile.

"Pat since you mentioned I'm the best 'roomie' ever, so would you like another?" Roman said with a smirk.

"What! What do you mean I didn't get an email or notification?"

"Yeah a friend of a friend's third cousin or whatever is looking for an apartment in the area for a time he is pretty quiet and I'm not certain if he would enjoy all the noise not to mention his job makes him move quite often, however we could offer him a room here for the time. Him paying of course ok?"

"Of course! The more the merrier, let him know that it would be great for him to join the family!" Patton smiled gleefully while stuffing his face with maple syrup and pancakes. He was going to meet more people, get more friends and hopefully, finally, he could quit his job at the local seafood market. It always smelled a bit fishy.
