A few weeks later, Harry told me that he got the map taken from him when he was stupidly roaming the castle at night. He ran into Professor Snape and he tried to use the map but insulted him. He was lucky that Professor Lupin had been walking about as well. He came up on them and said he’d take the map and check it out for any traces of dark magic, and then he wouldn’t give Harry the map back.
Before we knew it, March had flown right past us, and Hagrid had to take Buckbeak into London for the hearing. We waited anxiously all day for the verdict. At lunch time, Hermione handed me a letter from Hagrid saying he and Buckbeak lost. Harry started going on about how they couldn't do this to Buckbeak. That Buckbeak wasn't dangerous. Ron said Malfoy's dad scared them all into it, which I'm sure he did.
At dinner that night, Ron told us all about how Hermione punched Malfoy in the face for making fun of Hagrid for being upset. We were all very impressed and very scared of her for that. Buckbeak wouldn't be sentenced to death until the very end of the school term.
The Quidditch final was the Saturday after the Easter Holidays. Draco kept on Harry's tail the entire game, making sure he didn't miss the snitch. After a few fouls, and a penalty given to Gryffindor because Fred and George blasted a Bludger at Marcus Flint, Gryffindor ended up winning the game when Harry caught the Snitch before Draco could.
It was the dirtiest match that I’ve ever watched my friends play in. The Slytherins were doing everything they could to trip up the Gryffindors. Cornering them in tight sports, trying to knock opposing team members off their brooms, Beaters using their clubs to try and hit the other players and then act like they thought that a person was a Bludger. It was awful to watch, honestly.
Us Gryffindors rushed the pitch quickly as we could, and Harry was overtaken and lifted up by the crowd before I could reach him and tell him I was so proud of the game he played. So, I found George Weasley instead and I hugged him tightly, telling him I was so proud of him for that game. He hugged me back for a good moment.
I found Fred then too and I hugged him as well. That was when Cedric Diggory had found us. He told Fred he played a great game, and he was so happy that Gryffindor won. He finished by looking at me and saying, "See you around, Tonks," and he walked away.
Fred smirked at me, I stared at him, "Not a word."
June was at the Castle now. The Weasley twins were preparing for but not stressing about taking their O.W.L. exams in the slightest bit, but Percy Weasley was going crazy about his N.E.W.T. exams. He was driving the entire Gryffindor tower insane. He was already a stick in the mud. My fourth year final exams went by rather quickly, Hermione apparently failed her Transfiguration exam, and we spent about 30 whole minutes trying to calm her down before we took our Defense Against the Dark Arts exam.
On the day before the last days of exams, I was studying for tomorrow's tests in the library. I heard a familiar voice. It was Cecilia. I figured George was with her. As he usually is, so I want to follow it. But I stopped when I heard her say, "I shouldn't be here. You know I have a boyfriend."
"Then go," a male's voice says. I couldn't place the voice to anyone that I knew.
"You know I don't want to do that," I hear her say, and I am now fuming with rage. What was she doing to George right now?
I forced myself to turn the corner and I saw she was now kissing this mystery boy passionately. I couldn't tell who he was, but that was certainly her. I had to tell George. I couldn't keep this from him, because he would do the same for me.
I ran out of the library back to Gryffindor Tower to find Fred and George. I was out of breath when I got there. I saw Fred and George were sitting by the fireplace and I ran over to them. I started panting and gasping for air when I stopped running.
"Vangie? What's wrong?" Fred asks.
Through heavy breaths I managed to say, "I...Need...To...Talk...To...George...Alone."
"Yeah, sure," says Fred and then he's up on his feet and leaves George and I alone. I take Fred's seat. After I caught my breath and I could speak normally I told him what I had just seen and heard. George took it in this information intently. By the end of my story he just looked puzzled. Like he didn’t understand what had happened.
"And you're positive it was her," says George. He's looking for me to say no. That I wasn't sure it was his girlfriend. But I am positive it was her.
"I'm positive it was her, George. I'm so sorry."
"Thanks for telling me about this, Vangie, I'm going to try and catch her in the act then," he says and then he stands up.
"Good luck," I tell him as he walks towards the door. Fred is next to me in a second, asking me what was going on. So I told him the story, too.
"That slag!" Fred exclaims, angry at this situation. "How could she do that to George? That kid worships the ground she walks on."
"I know," I say, shrugging. "It's absolutely terrible."
George returned about a half hour later, and he sat down by Fred and continued studying and acted like nothing happened. Fred and I shared a look.
"What happened, mate?" Fred asked, not able to hold it in.
"She admitted she cheated on me," he said, not looking up from his book. "What Evangeline saw was the first time anything was physical, and it was just a kiss. She swears it meant nothing."
"And you believe her?" I ask, trying to keep my voice calm.
He looks up at Fred and I, and he nods his head yes and says, "I do. I do because as soon as I mentioned that I knew what was going on she spilled everything without me having to pry it out of her. She was honest with me right away."
"Well, we can't tell you not to forgive her, because that's your choice to make. But you need to find out what happened to make her do this to you in the first place and do whatever you can to make sure that it doesn't happen again."
"I know," he agrees, nodding, "it's going to be hard, but we will make it. I know we will."
He looks down at his book again, and Fred and I share another look. I knew what he was thinking, because I was thinking the same thing. His brother was an idiot.
The next week went by pretty quickly. Fred and I had no choice but to accept George's decision to forgive Cecilia and stay with her. Fred didn't like it at all though. He officially hated her. He refused to talk to her, and he tried to get George to break up with her and failed every time he brought it up. We had two more days left at school when George asked me to take a walk with him. I said okay, and we took a silent walk to the Astronomy Tower. Neither of us spoke, and I was starting to believe that he didn’t want to talk to me at all until he finally spoke up.
"Cecilia told me to get even with her," he says looking off ahead of him and not at me, "she told me to kiss someone else. I don't know if I want to. I don't like anyone else enough to kiss them. I just don't know what to do."
I saw my opportunity, and I was stupid not to take it, "You can kiss me if you want to."
"What?" He asks, looking at me now.
"Yeah," I nod at him, "why not? You know me. This way you don't have to worry about leading someone on by pretending to like them just so you can kiss them once."
He drums just fingertips on the railing for a moment, "I guess if I had to choose someone it would be you for that reason."
"Then kiss me," I say shrugging, "it's not that big of a deal. It won't mean anything."
"Okay," he says, turning to look at me, "Close your eyes and don't move. Please."
I do as he says, I face him and I close my eyes. I feel his hands cupping my face. The next thing I feel is his lips on mine. They’re soft, and the kiss is gentle at first, I could tell he was nervous. Then he gets more intense with it. He moves his lips and slips his tongue into my mouth, and we're now full on making out on the Astronomy Tower.
My heart was pounding in my chest as my hands are now in his long hair. George hands grip my hips and he pulls me as close as I can get to him holding me right up against his body. He seemed just as into this kiss as I was right now. It surprised me, but I liked it. I liked it a little too much.
He pulls back after almost an entire minute of this. "Sorry," he says through heavy breaths, "I had to make it worth it."
"It's okay," I assure him. That was my first kiss ever, George knew that. And it was amazing.
"Thank you for that, Vangie."
"I'm glad I was here to help," I say, shrugging, and then we headed back to Gryffindor Tower.
The next morning we woke to the news that Ron was in the Hospital Wing. So we all went to visit him. Harry and Hermione were already there when we arrived. They told us what had happened. Apparently, my cousin Sirius Black was framed. He wasn't a murderer at all. He was framed by a man named Peter Pettigrew, who had been disguising himself as Scabbers, Ron's pet rat. He was the one who told You-Know-Who where Harry’s parents were, not Sirius.
Sirius can change into a dog, and he grabbed Ron and messed up his leg. They also told us that Lupin was a werewolf and that when Snape had assigned us that essay on werewolves, he wanted us to figure it out on our own. Only Hermione did though. Peter was able to get away and Hermione and Harry used a Time Turner to help Sirius escape with Buckbeak. He was now on the run.
"What was he like?" I asked Harry. I had never met any of my family on my mother's side before. I was just curious.
"He was, surprisingly calm," says Harry, "Well, at the end he was. He was a bit frantic at first."
"I wish I could have met him," I told him and I meant it.
"I'm sure he would have loved to meet you, too," says Hermione, placing a hand onto my shoulder.
Since Cecilia knows that Fred is still angry with her, she and George sat with her friends instead of the other way around on the train ride home. Fred wasn't happy about it, but he kept the conversation away from them the entire ride back to King's Cross Station.
My mother was here, waiting to collect me, when we arrived. I couldn't wait to tell her about Sirius and how he wasn't actually dangerous. She would be happy to hear that. I said goodbye to all of the Weasley’s, and before we left Mrs. Weasley invited me to come to the Quidditch World Cup with the kids and Mr. Weasley this summer. My mum said I was welcome to join, and I got so excited. She knew I loved watching Quidditch games._______________
Here's part five!I don't know how anyone could ever cheat on George Fabian Weasley but yet here we are.
That honest hurt to write.
